DB9 manual, touchtronic or auto?

Out of interest what is the view regarding the above?
I drive an auto everyday as a commuter but my fun cars (TVR Griffith and DB7) have both been manual which I do prefer to drive.
What is the wisdom regarding the above? Id appreciate some advice as we may upgrade to a DB9
Thanks
Graham

I am a firm believer that a decent manual is far superior to any auto unless you live in London and/or have a weak clutch leg.
Seriously you can't beat a manual for driving pleasure. If I was racing I'd prefer a sequential box so I don't fluff my gearchanges when under extreme pressure but for the road I much prefer a classic manual. If you have a touchtronic it will only feel woefully out of date in a year's time when the TTmk3 box comes out. No such problems with a manual. Sadly very few DB9 owners would agree with me so they are very rare and an auto car would likely be easier to sell on. I've been looking for a while and there are only 2 or 3 manual cars for sale. Shameful state of affairs!

I like the TouchTronic2 (surprising, becasue generally I hate autos - it's the knowing it's going to change, but you already would have or knowing it's going to change, but you wouldn't that gets me), but I drove both and decided I wanted a manual. My wife is not happy that I also decided I preferred the Sports Pack. I had to wait to find the right car. They are comparatively rare.
I like sequentials too, despite what the press says. The gearbox on myh M5 is very good in my opinion. I also like the SMG on my CSL and M3 before.
PS I live in London.

Well i got my DB9 in the summer and it's great i love it, highly recommend it. I should point out that i am not a fan of auto boxes, they are just boring to drive. I also despise flappy paddle boxes like in Ferrari's and Lamborghini's, but the touchtronic gearbox is great. It blips on the down change and is so smooth and seamless, but when you are driving in town you can just stick it in auto and relax. I really think it is the best of both worlds.
It also depends what the car is going to be used for. Mine isn't used as a weekend car, but if it had been i would have been tempted by a manual. You should go test drive both, then you will appreciate how good the touchtronic gearbox is. However, if you can find a manual then why not go for it. They are pretty rare though.
Hope that helps

I have gone for the manual car because it is more fun, and more of my idea of what an Aston should be.Slipping it in to 4th in town and feeling the torque is just as much fun as hearing it howl.If it was an everyday car though you'd be better with the auto - then again the ride is crap over potholes so you would be much more comfortable in an XKR , but then you can get four people in a mondeo, but a focus is cheaper to run etc etc - personal choice I'm afraid .

Wow! I thought the manual coupe was rare. How many manual Volantes are there? The one in autotrader looks a good deal at £70k for a 2007 car in a great colour scheme. If you can cope with the Aston ride I thoroughly recommend the manual . Although auto was an extra I am hoping in the long term the manual will more than hold it's own because of rarity and involvement.
