My dilemma:
weather forecast excellent so should I fly somewhere in our aeroplane or take the car?
The car won, so last weekend I decided to take the ferry, a last minute decision as I booked at 8pm Friday and left at 8am on Saturday, to Ireland. Arrived in Dublin at 5pm so first night there exploring and checking the beer. Sunday we travelled down to Limerick and on to the coast to the view at the Cliffs of Moher: http://www.destination360.com/europe/ireland/image...
To be honest the roads were poor and not too much fun tho I did manage to get some in after visiting Poulnabrone http://www.stonepages.com/ireland/poulnabrone.html and the Burren on the way up to Galway Bay where we stayed in a little village enjoying the craic and the local seafood.
Up in the morning and away back towards the East coast via Athlone and this is where the car clears its throat and sounds just wonderful. The tyres must have got just a little hot for at one stage the "tyre system failure" light flashes on but I was sure it was just an Aston foible and sure enough it went out. Leaving the M6 and setting the heading for Navan was where the car came alive, the road being tight and twisty and quite empty of traffic meant that the Aston gave it's most visceral experience with the sound surging sonorously up and down with the quickshift working nicely between second, third and fourth. The tyres just giving lovely feedback with the tyre-blocks squirming under load, just edging not sliding I'm not that fast, honest. Ease back now and relax and on to Newgrange:

Back to Dublin and an early breakfast to catch the ferry, time just too short as we missed the parades for St Patrick's day. Love the people, love the roads.
I'm thinking of getting my teeth done as I'm getting used to returning all the smiles and kind remarks from strangers about the Aston.

Does that mean that you've not got an aeroplane then Pugs? I can hardly believe that!
Truth is I'm just quietly trying to enjoy my toys and still somewhat embarrassed when total strangers approach to make nice comments on the Aston. I was only trying to offer a little idea of the fun had over the last trip and what you can find with a spur of the moment idea. No positive comments so I'll not do it again.

Clearly not a Hercules, otherwise no choice to be made - simply drive the car into the back of the plane and fly off to wherever you like. Scenic tour of Bagdad, off-roading in the Serengeti - the opportunities are endless
Seriously ariel, thanks for the write-up on the emerald isle. All that talk of seafood has got me planning a trip to the Kent seaside for some whelks.
