Mr Sitting On The Fence Has Bought An Aston ......
Discussion
Whilst i admit to wanton changes of desire between a SL55, F355 and a F360 deep down I wanted an Aston but as my many explorarity (?) threads indicate finding one was far from easy and deals are random at best (thanks GTman for the PM insight - appreciated).
It had to be a convertible as my CLS55 is basically a poor mans DB9 so no point having 2
V8V a little small and my best deal was £85k for a new 09MY one - I wasnt sure
DB9`s seemed better value and 2 days searching for info on here and on various sites for prices and experiences focused my thinking.
it HAD to have some Aston warranty left, FAMSH and it couldnt be silver, apart from that I was ok with whatever spec, bluetooth would be nice.
I found a July 06 Volante in Mid blue with caspianand cream truffle interior for £55k with 12m MOT and a pre purchase AM Derby inspection and rectification of any findings - a bargain methinks.
Its a Wilmslow car that i guess was auctioned as its "leggy" at 33k miles but as it will be a sunday car / tourer its ok for me.
Dealer pic (proof after purchase LOL)

Well done on pulling the trigger
When you're posting, there's a little link for "formatting help" just above the main white box. Shows you what to do. You have to store the picture somewhere on the web so it can be linked to though.
Don't forget, V5, your smiling mug and today's paper a necessity

I have had all the service receipts scanned over and its very heavy on front tyres its on its 3rd set but only 2nd set of rears (must get tracking checked) OIL is down at £200 for Castrol DB Fully synth must supply my own I guess and its had new rear brakes and pads all round and carpet (?) its not gone in for anything major just a sump gasket and contaminated belts plus niggly stuff.
I have bought this sight unseen and subject to it going into Aston Derby for an early MOT and a 100 ish point inspection and report, I get the copy of the report, they will do any work advised and then I can decide to proceed or back out - ideal scenario really.
As its a one owner car and has been serviced and maintained at Aston regardless I doubt much can be wrong
If it needs any paint / chips doing I accept I have this in the reduced price of the car BUT I have been sent high res pics of the arches and front end and it looks ok, it has had paint at Aston on the front under warranty for stone chips as I had the workshop sheets faxed over.

Congratulations on your purchase.
I too have recently decided to purchase a DB9 and have a similar amount to spend as you. I had seen your car and had read the advert several times – it looks great at a good price. I am like you though (I take ages to decide). I haven’t viewed any cars yet, cos can’t even decide on coupe or soft top – though am now erring to soft and don’t want black or blue (though they look good in virtually every colour to me)

I wasnt tied to an amount just a desire for value in whatever I purchased, AM Derby have one at £63 ish and I was going to ask but after I spoke to the last owner of the one I got I was convinced to get it.I too have recently decided to purchase a DB9 and have a similar amount to spend as you.
Incidently does anyone know if you can upgrade the std stereo in these without spending ££££

Looks great - just to make you feel good I paid £96k for my 06 db9 Volante in October 08 with 6k on the clock
I just got lucky I think plus it is "leggy" however any rectification / detailing / fettling is more than covered in the £ I have in the car price. When I told Strats I had found a car and they asked what / price / etc they said it was a few £k under what they would sell it for - yeah right
congrats on the purchase ...I do find it amusing how dealers consider them "leggy" because someone has actually used their car rather than let it sit in a garage and polish it ...what are we supposed to be buying...and ornament?
/sorry, a bit cynical after getting the flyer through yesterday from the dealer "we need your Aston Martin" and "free valet/inspection/valuation"
I guess they want us owners with 3 yr old cars to go in and upgrade for a new one ...seeing as my car is well over 30k miles at 3 years old, I dont think I will bother

Actually, I don't think they're as bothered about selling you a new one as they are getting your car. They've acknowledged that new sales are on their ar5e, so their new car targets are way down, but their used car targets have been bumped right up. So they're trying to buy in as much used stock as possible.
You may be surprised what they offer you.
