some Porsche systems had the same problem. I think it was down to poor positioning of the mic!

the Porsche ones were near the steering column and as such picked up 'steering' noise, mine was crap.

the AM ones are behind the rear view mirror by the looks of it, although mine seems ok so far.

Known problem in earlier cars. Mostly due to a crap microphone setup although a limited number do have the mic wired backward from the factory.

The usual "dealer" fix for the former is a new mic stuck above the driver's door!

I've got a MY08 and have the same "quiet mic" problem when it links to my iPhone.

BTW - Does anybody else experience problems when connecting their iphone to the ipod lead and the unit being unreadable?

Dealer upgraded my mic last year and ended up making a huge difference in sound quality.

I took a black marker to the casing, so it now blends into the black headliner.

Well mine's brand new (2009), suspect it could be mic wired backwards, that'd make sense...

I use an iPhone as well. Have both the same problems, works fine with a normal iPod Nano though.
