I had problems with the Bluetooth on my 07 V8V which meant the stereo kept cutting out on one speaker. Had the voice control and steering wheel controls. After various attempts by AM to sort it out they eventually replaced the Bluetooth system with an upgrade which now comes through the header unit. So now I control from the steering wheel but the read out all shows up on the radio screen, allowing me to scroll through recent calls, phone book etc.

Works much better than the deaf, stroppy bint on the voice control, who couldn't distinguish between names and took three attempts to remember a list of numbers !

Sorry, don't know. Mine was under warranty due to the problem with the sound system. Note, it still doesn't give you text messaging on the console, but that does not worry me - too much of a distraction IMO

I don't think this is referring to the phone. It's referring to a message from the car's electronics.

Press the 'read' button on the centre console and you should get the message pop up. It'll probably be telling you something like the washer bottle needs filling.

I used to get the same spoken message telling me I had a new SMS - this was on an '06 plate car connected to a Sony Ericsson (I think).

Oddly it stopped when I changed phone and I've never heard it again since changing to a newer V8!

mmm not sure about that, it only happens when the phone has just paired, another anoying thing is that it seems to announce all the sms i have had in the day and read! so i got like 10 'you have a message' !

So, can I not use the keypad on the centre console to dial or have the phonebook appear on the display?

Haven't tried it with the Bluetooth upgrade, but thought you could only do that with the GSM kit where you insert the sim in the dash. Might be wrong though. Will try tonight

Is this the info module in the rev counter? It tells you you have messages?

Interesting. Perhaps it's only with certain phones??

Looks like a further manifestation of poor Bluetooth implementation.

Ah well, you don't want to be reading them on the move anyway smile
