Guys,

Need some help, picked my V8V up last week and all has been fine. This morning it showed me the emission service is required.
Now I think fuse 22 might of been pulled, could this be the reason?
I will check over the weekend to see if the fuse is in, but if it is present does anyone else know if this is serious?

Thanks in advance

nothing to do with fuse 22

a "known problem" I was told at last years 10K service and to wait for a fix under warranty

will tell you what happens this year at the 40K service in April .........

It will either need just a plug into your dealers AMDS machine to clear the fault code. If it's not that, it will be a HEGO sensor in the Cat. Normally Bank 1 Sensor 1. (Can't tell i used to work with them can you) smile
HTH.

editted to add.....pulling fuse 22 won't affect this. We used to recommend it!!! That and if you don't put much in the boot try removing the parcel shelf wink The warning light is due to the sensor picking up a fault within the cat. 9/10 its just a reflash, if not it will be a sensor change. If it's a sensor the will only need your car for a day at the most.

I received the same warning last Friday. I drove the car to the dealer, they just reset the wotsit thingy and all is OK. The dealer said that if the warning comes back, it may need a new oxygen sensor. So far this week, no repeat all is OK and I give fuse 22 a tug every now and again.

as touring remo states very common problem, as changes in driving style can also illuminate this warning, as this is engine management related and usually just requires a reset, Generic eobd equipment can read this system and reset it, most up to date garages have this equipment, so it may be worth getting them just to check and reset making a note of the codes, obviously a lot cheaper than the dealer and for many can be a bit of a trip to the dealer,

if any one wants to know how to access and which dlc connector to use let me know, if the warning returns immediately or shortly after a reset then please use the dealer or specialist to check the systems properly as generic equipment will only give an overview of the system,

Thank you everyone for the replies.
Good to see I am not the only one with the problem.
If I pop into aston are they likely to charge me for a reset as I didn't buy it from them and have no relationship either?

My car is a 06 and has extended warranty until Jan 2010, would this be covered under it?

Mine was on the dealers ramp for about 30 minutes. The dealer didn't charge, but then he sold it to me and I have it serviced there and it's under warranty.

I can't imagine it will cost too much even if you have to pay. You could always try blowing up the exhaust pipe wink

Arrghhh mine just done this for the first time!!!!!! it also went into failsafe operation mode. Fortunately, I had made it out of the blackwall tunnel before this kicked in. I pushed the car home as traffic in south london is a nightmare at the moment.

I was actually driving home from the dealership after having my cars 2 year service......

if it dropped into limp then this usually more serious than the normal emissions warning, to be fair there is nothing normally disturbed or disconnected on the 20k service that could have triggered this fault, was any warranty work carried out, sometimes after dropping into limp turning the car off and restarting will leave warning on, but will drive normally,

Rick - my car developed a different but probably linked symptom on the way home this evening.

I was accelerating from c40mph when the car suddenly felt like someone was left-foot braking hard. I lurched forward (like the car had been shunted up the arse) and it regained power soon after.

Pretty scary actually (and for the bloke who was behind me!). Could these be linked?

Cheers

faults that cause the car to drop into limp, require investigation as you have noticed they can be dangerous never mind disconcerting, Please don't keep driving to see if it happens again, Intermittent faults can be difficult to trace but there are ways and means, The systems fitted are very complex and all integrate with each other, whoami i believe yours is the new 4.7 i have not seen any field service actions or recalls etc of common faults yet but will have a look in a mo,

Cheers Rick.

Yes, mine is a 4.7. I'd actually booked it in to be checked earlier today and it played up on the way home.

No limp home mode though, just the yellow emissions light on the dash (that the dealer said would be okay to drive with).

As an aside, thanks for talking the trouble to post on this forum, it's very helpful thumbup

thats right i advise the same if it is just the warning, continue to drive, if it drops into limp stop when safe turn off restart and if ok continue to drive, if continues to drop into limp stop somewhere safe, and ring your dealer or specialist for assistance,

1, just warning message book in for check when convenient
2, dropping into limp book it in asap
3, does not want to start, phone now

even with the glitches aren't they still fantastic and imo they are no worse the any other super car and a lot better than some manufactures,

if you compare the problems with the DB7 and the Vanquish compared with the V8 Vantage and DB9 they are worlds apart, i mainly deal with niggles and minor faults not major repairs on the later two,

whoami as for helping and posting according to my wife who works with me i don't work on Aston's i am addicted to them :, who wouldn't want my job, different aston everyday and i still get the same buzz every time i carry out a road test, and it is really nice to talk to people who share my passion,

Rick, do you think I could get mine looked as part of my extended warranty, or are things like this not covered????
