I am planning on buying a 2000+ DB7 and want to know if there is enough room in the back to fit a child car seat in the rear and if yes, if anyone could recommend a particular make or model suitable for a 2 year old.

Also, are there any know faults / issues with the DB7s that I should look out for?

I have copied a post from www.amoc.org the aston owners site. This guy had the same issues but seems to have found a seat that fits.

The Graco Hi-Life booster seat (it's just the seat base without the back) fit perfectly well in the back of our i6 coupe.
We bought ours from Halfords and I think they still sell them

My Dad has one (on PH for sale.. wink blatant plug..)and the back is quite small but the booster seat mentioned should fit...

Have you got one in mind to buy?

The AMOC and here will be the best place to get replies on known issues...

i have looked at a few db7 vantages {different gbox} and have come to the conclusion that it does not work with a child in the back .im 6ft and there was just no room in the back when i got in, db7 i6 on the other hand does seem to work {gearbox must be thinner and gives driver more room to get seat further forward} all depends on how tall you are and how old the child is
car seat halfords sell a booster seat that fits nice

Nigel,

I have a 2001 DB7 Vantage touchtronic and have had experience fitting our twin girls in the back since they were 2 years old. It can be done with a proper child seat (the ones I used are Britax Freeway - probably the only ones with a base narrow enough to fit in the Vantage rear seats.) You can't sit a 2 year old on a booster seat because there is no lateral support for them, especially when they fall asleep and they would flop over the transmission hump). The issue you'll have is that the child seat causes their legs to stick straight out until they grow long enough (about age six or seven perhaps) to bend down at the knee. This means that the seat in front of them has to be all the way forward. If it is the front passenger seat that may be OK depending on the size of your passenger. If it is the drivers seat and the car is manual, it will not work if the driver is taller than say 5'6". However, with Touchtronic a six foot driver can still drive the car over long distances quite comfortably. I know because I've done it.

This solution will only work until your child is 3 and a half or 4 years old or so, then legroom becomes an issue again. At that point you'll need to look at booster seat solutions as we have now. BTW I still have my Britax seats which I no longer use. They are no longer manufactured.

I can tell you about the DB7 V12 Vantage.
My 4 year old son fitted in easily - he has a Britax seat and it was an exact fit in the rear seats. Very snug fit and the seat wouldn't move laterally at all.
He was fine sitting in it and really enjoyed the ride.
If you're interested in what Britax model it was, let me know

Firstly apologies for resurrecting this old thread.

Test drove a DB7 Vantage Touchtronic this week. Having previously read this thread I was hopeful that my 3 year old son and his Britax Hi-Liner seat would fit in the back. The seat just fitted and I was able to get the drivers seat far enough forward to give him enough leg/foot room. The problem came when I tried to attach the seatbelt. There was absolutely no room to get down the side of the child seat to clip the belt.

The obvious if somewhat brutal solution to the problem would seem to be to remove the padded leather piece shown below that surrounds the seatbelt catch.

It looks like it's glued on. My question is has anyone removed this and if so:

• Did it do any damage to the surrounding leather?
• How bad does it look underneath?

Alternatively it would be great if someone can suggest a narrower seat that fits better?

Any help with this would be much appreciated. Really want a DB7, but it has to work as an occasional 2+2

Thanks,

Tony
