Guys,

What sort of premium would be expected (if any) on a '95 DB7 that has only covered 2648 miles since new?
I have been asked to look at selling my fathers due to ill health and have spoken to a couple of dealers and am not sure I share their optimistic valuations...

Are sales of Astons at a plateau or falling like the rest of the car market..

Whats the colour combo? is it an airbag model? what wheels is she rolling on?
I for myself would prefer one with lets say 20k miles, over a garage queen. 3k for a 14 year old car. That's not even run in!!! I doubt this is a good thing for an engine, alltough I'm no expert...

Well, its BRG with Parchment leather with dark green piping. It isnt an airbag model.

The wheels are the standard 12 spoke design with the smaller hub as shown below.

I agree with the mileage but my dad has put most of it on himself with the previous owner only showing 1100 when he sold.
The car has been garaged but regularly started and looked after by Stratton Motor Co. who were also the dealership that sold the vehicle in the first place I am told.

The problem you will have Kev is that the DB7 Vantage is not very good value. Its a much better car then the i6 DB7, and for a simmiler price many would rather have the Vantage. This deflates prics even further.

Thats true ^^, i think that a low mileage example that has been looked after stratton motor company (who are very good) will hold a very slight premium over some of the other models avalible in the second hand market.

I wouldn't really agree with that. The early Vantages are a PITA and expensive to maintain which is why they are very cheap. The same could be said for the early i6 cars but the late six cylinders have years of changes to fix original faults.

I would expect some dealers to put it up for around £35k for that mileage as it would be a collectors or museum piece.

Thanks for the input guys.

Dad has said that one dealer did mention that they would list if for £35k due to mileage but as I mentioned, I cant see that going any time real soon at that price.

I havent had any experience selling Astons so where would be the best places to advetise (apart from PH where it is already)....I know dad is a member of the AMOC and they want £22 to advertise which I will do once I have got some decent 'out of the garage' pictures.
Do the usual places such a Auto Trader, etc find serious buyers as I dont want dad to have to deal with chancers and wasters in his current state.

I personally would pass it to Aston Kensington or somewhere equally inflated in ego and sell it on a commission basis.

Well I am baffled. I just can't see a 95 i6 DB7 fetching £35k at all when you can buy 2000+ v12s for the same/less money. If it was a "unique" model then the low mileage would make it an interesting purchase for one or two people but if the car "needs" selling then surely its going to be more like £25k..?

Who on here would buy it for £35k?

Cheers
Matt.

No I agree- not when someone is selling a DB7 GT for £37K, with just 16,000 miles.

http://www.johnhollandsales.co.uk/14249/stocklist....

A low mileage i6 DB7 is no comparison with a DB7 GT, I'm afraid.

This is my point entirely. On looking at prices of DB7's I was amazed that the dealer suggested £35k which is why I asked the original question.
I have no intention of sticking that price on it but will maybe look to ask for a grand over the price of any other decent DB7 advertised due to the mileage.

Wasnt privvy to the conversation with the dealer so not sure what commission they stated (although I am sure it would be high).

Again thanks for the input and advice and I shall see what happens.

Another thought: for something with that low mileage, how about the specialist Bonhams auction at newport pagnall in May?

It might do well there...

Time and time again I see very low mileage (<5k) cars go for silly sums of money - be it R107 SLs, 993s or any other interesting car. Rightly or wrongly you just can't compare these cars with 'oh look what I can buy for the equivalent'. There are people out there that will buy it for that reason alone rolleyes.

Yes I agree- its not something I understand, but I agree, which is why I suggested the specialised Auction route

Thanks for the input and advice it is greatly appreciated.

I have advertised it a few places and if it doesnt sell privately, then I think I will try the auction houses as a couple have advised putting it in their 'classic' auctions even though it isnt classed a classic......go figure.

That's the ticket. It may not technically be a classic but it's unusual and still a very desirable car.

The problem, as quite a few have pointed out, is that it isn't hard to find early DB7's, which will be far from dogs, way below £35k which seems optimistic to put it mildly particularly in the current climate.
