I live not too far from Aston Works. I've had various bits and pieces done since August and they have always looked after me, very well.

However, I'm starting to think that the costs of getting stuff done is not worth the convenience.

For example,

rear tyre, fitted: £388
front tye, fitted: £373

Both occasions it was a clear puncture that could not be reparied (I was advised) and were fitted at short notice, so fair play on that front.

However, I can't help but feel that I'm still being ripped off with the prices. As any tyre fitter/dealer will do the job but over £150 cheaper!!!

I'm concerned about servicing too. What are the dealers charging for servicing these days?

I got two rear tyres changed for £400 and i just had the 2nd year service done at £1200 with a
few bits needed to be changed, not sure which bits as i don't have the sheet with me.

Only grip for me is the car was booked in for warranty work but they done the service at the same
time but it was a month early...

All done by Cheltenham dealer, not sure it will be going back there after that though.

Ive never had a service at a dealer yet thats over £800, and tyres at similar prices to online prices - about £210 fitted each on the rear IIRC ...im up to the 4 year/40K service in April now and its out of warranty so may well go to a specialist....

i have always used the dealer until my last service, after seeing a few recommendations for an independant in derby on here. gave them a call and they carried out my last service, couldn't fault the service or the price, already booked for same time next year even though it is a bit of a drive. will post a link when i figure out how too, here it is http://www.derbymotorservices.com/

I did complain that the prices were not reflective of the market, i.e. £215 mobile fitted versus £373 is a big difference. However, I was reminded of the convenience of Aston Works on my doorstep. Even though the mobile fitters will come to me!

I don't want to moan about it too much since they did replace the tyre without an appointment. But I can't help but thinking I might be best pricing up other work elsewhere if Works do charge over the odds "for the convenience".

Lessons learned I guess!
