Been looking at the posts for cheap Vantages and as I have been in the market for a wile am thinking of taking the plunge and parting with some hard earned ... but ... Looking at the deals on new cars ( £ 65 K for a new 4.3 roadster on this site ! ) the reductions dont seem to have filtered down to used examples ? What does everyone think ? Is it worth waiting a bit longer, £ 40 K for a used 06 does not seem as good value as £ 65 for an 09 roadster .... Do you think that the entry price will change to reflect the new prices now ?

I picked up an 06 plate fully loaded for £45,000 with 12,000 miles on the clock.Cannot complain one single bit. The car is stunning. To get dynamically just as good as a new 4.7, if not better, you can spend £15Kish on the Prodrive upgrade. That's what I'm going to do with mine.

Factor in the warranty for an additional year at £1250.

The depreciation is not linear - VERY big hits recently too - yes the roadsters do seem good value compared with new price, but are still 20-25k more than the 3 year old cars... that still a good chunk of change. Funny, looking to sell my 06 coupe (19k miles, FSH, new warranty etc.).. had a look on the AM website to get their prices as also thinking of doing PX and the 06 cars seem to have gone up again .. the 'cheap' desperate sales seem to have gone....

You've also got to consider the market for these cars, there are a lot more people with £45K to spend than with £70K to spend so there will always be a greater demand for cars in that price bracket. An 06 car that's at £40-£45K now was at £55K plus just 6 or 8 months ago so they have dipped significantly in value. Compared to their original purchase price (mine was £90K for example) mine has depreciated over 50% in 2.5 years. The plus point about buying a new 4.3 at around £65K is that you're going to substantially avoid that initial depreciation associated with buying a new car. If you have the cash it almost makes sense to "invest" in a new one.

Edit...I started off with an idea of what I was attempting to put into words but I think it mostly got lost in translation!! wink

Thanks for the posts .... know its more loot but the £ 65 k seems 'good value' when compared to the £ 40 - 45 for the 06 cars ... feel it must reflect the used values soon .... think will have a look for a little longer and see what happens ...
