Hi guys a newbie to this neck of the woods but I would just like to say out of all the marques I looked at yesterday at a massive car show, this beauty made me go back three times to check that I wasnt going mad! From what I hear its incredible. I loved all the carbon fibre trim on the lower splitter, wing mirrors and the disk rotors appeared to be of carbon kevler compound?? The stopping power must be brilliant.

Who has one and what do you think? Is it a step up or comparable to the likes of the DB9.. Cheers biggrin

Now you can buy a used one for the price of a new DB9 they are fantastic. Not sure they justify the £60kish premium over the very similar DB9 when new though. In the flesh the Vanquish has more in the way of road presence.

I love 'em (Vanquishs' that is) but they only have more in the way of road presence when you can get it to the road...! getmecoat

True, but when you can buy a decent 3-4 year old Vanquish S for say £65k and spend £15k on a proper manual gearbox conversion from Aston that might not explode if you don't change gear at the right moment, it would be one hell of a car biggrin

Having looked at that photo, the DBS would look great in a deep metallic burgundy colour!

Absolutely spot on...and I considered that exact same option at the time I was deciding whether or not to buy a DBS, I had the option to buy back my original Vanquish S, and then upgrade the gearbox to manual but decided after much deliberation (and consultation on here) that a DBS was just a better daily ownership option for me. Doesn't mean it wouldn't be the right thing for someone else though and I'm sure it would make one heck of an addition to a collection as you say thumbup

Oh, and I was just a bit concerned that it may have thrown another timing chain like it did when it lunched itself!eek

Murph.... Funny you should say that I was thinking exactly the same. I love black against shiny wheels but I think it hides this cars beautiful curves too much. I think it would look striking in azure blue or deep metallic purple. Lovely smile

I think you can now get it with rear seats like the DB9 (i.e. small) to special order. You can get a touchtronic now too. Not sure I approve of the latter.

Pointless anyway, I'm 5'7 and no matter how I try I simply cannot fit in the back of a DB7!

Just ack from droppin the Vantage in, and they had one of these on the forecourt for £112K... that's a hell of a lot of car for the money (OK, still a lot but in comparison with the DB9.. wow). Wonder what the impact of the V12 Vantage will be on these prices too

In what way ? I don't doubt you, I'm interested to hear a first hand opinion.

It looks like a DB9 from the outside (with a body kit)

It looks like a DB9 from the inside (with some nice seats), and even comes as an auto now

It looks like a DB9 mechanically, same block, reworked slightly.

And the media (who can't be trusted) say it's not dissimilar to a DB9 with the sport pack

Either come on over and I'll give you a demo or arrange one for yourself wink, the way the car is geared and suspended it is a totally different proposition. I haven't driven a hard top DB9 but I did own a DB9 Volante (albeit only for 2 weeks because it really was, for me anyway, too much of a boulevard cruiser) and although I understand the DB9 coupe to be a good Gt car, the DBS is another level again and that comes from other DBS owners who have traded into a DBS. I'm afraid I disagree with all the opinions that say it's a DB9 with a body kit - but each to their own - in the flesh (or tin) they (DBSs') are simply fantastic to look at, the attention to detail with the carbon fibre etc is amazing (see Kylie's comments as the OP)). I agree that the inside probably isn't a great deal different to all the other current AMs and I also agree with whoever commented about the effect the new V12 Vantage will have on DBS values but my understanding is that the V12V will be an out and out sports car to compete with GT2s (you might be interested given your moniker) leaving the DBS as the consumate GT, but again that's just my view.

In contrast to my opinion I know that there are some DB9 owners who prefer the purity of the DB9 shape and even old big gob himself, Mr Clarkson, said that the DB9 is the better looking, but when it comes right down to it I feel that the DBS just embodies everythimg I've searched for in a GT car, the looks, the class and the aggression (because when you give it some beans it certainly reveals another side to its character, some say it's a bit lairy esp. in the wet, but for me and a few others that's part of the appeal (see some posts/threads from Jus in South Africa, he borrowed one for a good few days and loved it, lovvveeed it! biggrin). I've been fortunate enough to have owned a Vanquish S, a 612 and now a DBS (amongst others) and the DBS is for me the ultimate (at this moment in time at least) GT car......but that's just my opinion, you pays your money and takes your choice!hehe

Driving one on Friday. Looking forward having recently come out of cars that are too hardcore (430 Scud) or with a dreadful gearbox (430 Scud), and wondering if the DBS is a great mix of driveable and huge fun. Usually opt for 911s for this kind of thing, but something different for once would be good. Sagpack and Polar's examples make it seem def worth a drive.....and must agree on the looks, it may be basically a DB9 with a bodykit, but it still works brilliantly in my eyes.

Have a look at Tiff N driving DBS ( auto ) on fifth gear web site from last night's programme ( fantastic in green ). He calls it the ultimate GT and prefers it to a 599 which is praise indeed.
I heard the jibes from the early press reports about the DBS being a DB9 with a Halfords body kit . I have a db9 volante which I love but having seen the DBS in the flesh I am very, very tempted - it looks fantastic in any colour.
