I have no idea if this is true but heard rumors Aston are selling 50 New DB9's at upto 50% discount in the next 2 weeks? Heard it is something to do with being forced to reduce stock/built levels??? Sounds like BS but came from a pretty well placed source . . . anyone else heard anything?

Be careful, as I have heard of many similar scams where punters are tempted by "too good to be true" prices and rush into paying deposits.

Personally I would doubt that AM would do that as it would seriously affect their whole business.

I would have to ask how many DB9's are made each week? If it's (for example) 5, is it possible that Aston Martin be sitting on 10 weeks stock or do they make cars to order, which I would assume is more likely for this type of car.

Unfortunately i am not in the market for one . . .my wife won't let me. However would seriously consider marital strife should this rumor be proved to be true!!!

Ish. I know of someone who has bought 50 cars from Aston at a substantial discount. I was offered one at not quite 50% off, have asked if there would be a reduction for 3-4, and awaiting a reply. I'll be interested to see how this increased low-price supply will affect 2nd hand prices which seem to have held up OK in the last 2-3 months.

Yep, I've heard similar from the horses mouth. Call your dealer, they'll tell you what Aston have offered the dealers to bid on.

Ask them nicely they'll put a bid in on your behalf (+ a bit of wedge for their trouble)

Since dealers aren't exactly looking to fill their stock books right now, you may get one cheap.

Same goes for AMV8s too

Absolutely true...well OK to an extent as CCC said.

The word from out the side of the engineers' mouths at Aston is that 2 things are killing them right now...stockpile and cash flow. They need to dump one and raise the other! There is quite a lot of confidence about 12months+ with the new V12 Vantage, rapide and continuing strong image, but they just need/want money in now. All the "cost" aspect of the produced cars that are sitting around has already been accrued, so it doesnt matter if they make a loss on them right now, *some* money now is better than none at all or *possibly a bit more money in the future*. Its all gone a bit old school at Aston right now, surviving the next 12 months is paramount, just like the good old days. Survive that and the word is Aston have some very funky stuff in r&d.

I'm talking about trade auctions - every DB9 or V8V sold since start of december has done so well in excess of the auctioneers expectations. Cap puts values in that are Below, Average, Clean, Trade and Retail. All have sold for between trade and retail, where they would be expected to be between average and clean.

Could be because in mid nov there was an article in autocar saying how cheap astons are at auction, and a lot of non-trade bidders were at the auctions mentioned above....

Do I hear a group buy smile

Do you think other manufactuers such as Honda etc will be doing a similar thing in order to shift stock?

So do folks reckon it's worth making a cheeky £70k cash bid for a DBS and see what they say???

:-)

In jest - I am sure most dealers would answer with off!!

So how are people getting this kind of deal? I've been seriously considering one and if I could get that kind of deal I'd definitely do it. So far the dealers I've talked to have offered $8K (US) off msrp (V8 Vantage roadster), but that's not much for as expensive of a car as it is.

from what i have heard this 'offer' only applies to the DB9 - assume this means there is a much larger stock of unsold db9's than v8's/dbs's, hence the need to reduce...
