Hi all im looking into buying my first aston vantage but would like to find out what i can first. I work away a lot so wont be using it every day i would probably do 3-4k per year my main question is do they suffer from any common problems and am i likely to encounter any trouble? Services would be next how often for basic major? What would i be looking for when buying apart from the obvious crash damaged and what would my overall running costs be roughly for the year?? Look forward to hearing your views many thanks. H

Have a good search through here on what to look for. It's been done many times (if you look at the warranty thread you'll find most of the common niggles).

Servicing will be annual for your mileage. Varies between 650 and 1000 depending on which service it is (think the cycle of cost is something like 650, 1000, 850). If you do put more miles on it, it's every 10k miles.

If you're not using it for extended periods (over a month), get a trickle charger.

Get one with a factory warranty too. The cars are generally reliable once the warranty type items have been addressed, but little niggles could end up spoiling the ownership experience if you have to stump up for them.

All of the above...

Tyres approx £200 a time... obviously life based on your driving style

AM warranty looks good - would cost £1250 to buy one, plus approx £300 for an inspection if you don't buy it at service time - unless car les than 3yrs old obviously.

Again coming yo to 20k on mine, nothing really wrong - a few rattles that I wouldn't have bothered with outside of servicing but I only live 5 miles from the dealer so it's been in a couple of extra times for that...

OK, I do care about the costs... but the thoughts do go away once hunkered behind the steering wheel

Just wanted to know the running costs to compare with the porsche 996 turbo as i was looking into buying one of either obviously 911s are well known for reliability power etc and have came down to sensible money. Its a lot of bang for your buck but the astons an aston and a different car again that i just love. im just working out the pros and cons of both choices choicessmile

Tons of threads covering 911 v V8 comparisons too wink

General consensus seems to be you won't look back. But then I guess that's from people who hang around on this section and not the Porsche one...
