Failed alarm module
Discussion
A couple of days ago my alarm started going off on it's own accord, along with an "Alarm Service" warning on the dash. I contacted my dealer who told me it's a known fault caused by water ingress into the module behind the rear passenger wheel and they will get a replacement in for me.
Unfortunately it has been going off intermittantly for the last 36 hours, sometimes for just a few seconds once an hour or so, and sometimes non-stop for what seems like ages.
My dealer apparently has no drivers available to collect (or even a receptionist or someone to meet me halfway) for a week and Aston Assistance won't come out as the car is still driveable. There is also no loan car available to me if I drive the car to them, and without the part in stock I would then be stuck 40 miles away from home for 24 hours which doesn't exactly thrill me. Yesterday was the only day I had free time to drive it.
It's driving both me and my immediate neighbours beserk, even though I stuffed the rear wheel arch with sleeping bags and pillows to try to muffle the sound !
I'm told by the dealer that the module has it's own battery and to disconnect the main vehicle battery in order that the independant one eventually runs down.
My question is this - I assume that I have to drop the door window a small amount before disconnecting the battery in order that I can close and open the door at a later stage ? That being the case I also assume that I will have to disable the volumetric alarm with the button on the side of the dashboard fascia as the car is parked outside with the window open a bit ?
I will discuss what I think of my dealer's customer service at a later stage once I have had a word with the principal later today!
Any hints or tips will be gratefully received.

And to add to this, I also had it. Siren in my case apparently.
I would call the recovery people again if I were you (assuming the car's still under warranty and it's the factory recovery service you have). Mine went off at 0030 a couple of Thursday's ago. I was out on the piss (car in the drive), and my other half was none too pleased (my phone battery was out too, so you can imagine the grief I was in!). After trying to turn it off, she called the recovery people and they said they would have someone out within the hour...
It stopped going off, so she cancelled it. But they were sending someone out.
