This missus is looking hard at a DB7, and her one concern after driving one was that the brakes weren't quite as sharp as she was expecting. Is this normal, or are the brakes worn and will be sorted out by the AM bods as part of the pre-sales check, or could it be something else?

Are there any upgraded pads or disks available to improve braking if this is "normal behaviour"?

Thanks in advance!

The fluid may need changing if they're particularly bad but they should do the job. I have Mintex C-Tech pads on mine which took some getting used to they worked so well!

Compare the size of the brake discs/calipers on the DB7 to those on the DB7 Vantage and it will give you a clue. The massive Brembo's on the Vantage are what it takes to properly stop a car that weighs the best part of 2 tonnes.

Actually that's not really an issue for most road use. The larger brakes really only serve to keep brake fade down - braking is converting kinetic energy into heat, so provided the thermal transfer is sufficient it will do that. If you fit race pads to with the standard discs you'll stop on a sixpence when warm - just don't expect to do it all day at a track.

Sorry ... it was a Vantage she tested. Hopefully the dealer will sort the brake fluid.

Any idea what the C-Tech pads cost and where they can be got?

Not sure if they are a fitment for the Vantage - mine is an I6. I think I paid £50 for the fronts!

Try here.
