I've read several people saying that the system is not good, but what are the specific complaints.
It seems better than the PCM2 in my 911, mostly bcos it has some postcode recognition.....
However, my biggest problem thus far is that it doesn't seem to realise I have reached my destination when I have....am I doing something wrong

LOL
its just everyone has been spoilt these days as aftermarket jobbies you buy for £200 as so easy to use these days, rather than changing discs in the boot when going abroad etc. Its like a 5 year old Volvo system....but Volvo still use it now in their cars !
its like anything - people buy an expensive car and expect *every* aspect of it to be perfect and top of the range ...but the sat-nav isnt

It's not that accurate and tends to take you via stupid routes. Also has annoying voice. It'll get you there eventually.
As mentioned, not as good as a cheap Tom Tom - but at least is folds away for 99% of the time.
Hve a TomTom for the other car and so far it has proven better than the old Porsche one...I'm gettingused to the man's voice - the woman I couldn't stand......As mentioned, not as good as a cheap Tom Tom - but at least is folds away for 99% of the time.
the satnav is the so bad that it will infuriate you on any journey. I would advise against including it when speccing a new car as it is that bad, who-ever signed it off as suitable for use on the road should be ashamed. I've taken to using a tomtom in preference, how damning is that for a £1700 piece of kit!
Doesn't do full postcodes. Takes crap routes. Doesn't always get you there. Both voices are irritating. It's overly verbose when it doesn't need to be, and not clear enough when it should be. It doesn't seem to be possible to do much with the screen colours/brightness. TMC has been crippled (which may have been a saving grace). It doesn't recognise many street names. You can't load on your own POIs (e.g. "safety" cameras). It's slow to get a signal. It's slow to calculate/recalculate routes.
There's more if you want it. The best things it does are pop out of the dash in a cool way and integrates reasonably with the stereo/phone kit. Big deal.
As for aftermarket units looking cheap...well, they are about an eighth of the cost of the AM factory one. And the latest, slim TomTom units look as good as they work IMO.
The AM factory SatNav is st, and a disgrace on a car costing so much money. Were I ever to buy another new V8, I would categorically not spec SatNav (if it remains of this calibre).

I used it again this morning and whilst I knew where I was going it took me on a shorter and quicker route so thought that was good.
Still wondering why it won't realise it has got to the destination though......
As the car is back with the dealer today and tomorrow I might ask them when I pick up if there is a trick I'm missing.
