Seriously considering this. Has anyone made the move?
Cheers
Go for it.Cheers
I will probably do the same next year!
I'm going to have a long test drive and then start "negotiations".
I've been fortunate enough to own both a Vantage (although a 4.3 rather than a 4.7 which I understand is a much better proposition) that I really liked and then a Vanquish S that I absolutely loved but as in all relationships there is a fine line between love and hate and I ended up falling out with both the Vanquish S and AM (after a troublesome year and an engine replacement!). However, three months ago I came back to the fold when I bought a beautiful Casino Royale DBS. All I can say is I'm in love again! What a car. So my advice would be....go for it! In fact there was a private sale advert in the Sunday Times today for one at £119950.00, now that's a bargain (and I thought I got a good deal 3 months ago!)
Yes --- DO IT! I made that move just four weeks ago... I've had two V8 Vantages (and a Vanquish S in between them) -- then switched into a DBS in December (after three weeks with a Gallardo Spyder which I didn't get on with)
The DBS is fantastic -- a huge move ahead in so many departments that its almost justifiable in price difference. The power, torque, ride comfort, brakes, gear change and of course the looks and sound. When driving, the car feels the same size and feels lighter
I've written a little more on the switch and comparison of both cars on AMOC - have a look there
For around 120k or so you can get a sub 1000 mile DBS -- still some 50k more than a similar aged V8... but if you can, you should.
Blimey that was quick Neil!
I have to agree the DBS looks awesome, must confess the thought had crossed my mind as well... but even though I'll get flamed for mentioning the "D" word (for depreciation) I'd wait a while judging by the Vanquish & its similarity to the DB9 I think it will make the V8's free-falling value looking positively glacial!
Mind you with stock markets, houses & everything else loosing their shirts & the likely hood of a bank going bust & loosing ALL your money, I suppose you could argue with wife number 1 that the £70k one year loss is safer than letting Barclays keep your cash

hmm Grant perhaps i live in the wrong country (you will agree i know) but i don't see anything about a crisis here ...
still stable house and used car prises.....
That's sensible, stable Germans for you, well done my man so why aren't you buying a DBS .still stable house and used car prises.....
But while your houses have remained static, or even eased backwards slightly due to your love affair with renting, in the UK our house prices have trebled in the last 11 years, freeing up lots of cash to spend on cars etc! Sadly everyone got a bit carried away so we are now busy loosing a third of the value of our homes to bring them back to more realistic levels, still be worth more than yours though even after the crash . While Germany has retained its manufacturing industry we haven't, so the Uk has become a country filled with service industry companies or financial institutions flowing cash between the US & Europe! Which is why the pound is now worth 2p!
Of course none of it is the politicians fault, our government is whiter than a white thing in the snow & butter wouldn't melt in their quangos, public enquiry, new law changing, financial regulatory mouths!
Right rant over, bottom line is I agree with you, if confidence returned a little & people started spending, everything would be fine, as I've said B4 capitalism is about one man buying from another to feed both & if one ain't buying its car diets all round!!!
