What type of petrol is best for a Vantage

Is the AMV8 not similar to my old 911 where the engine retarded itslef if used with normal unleaded and the power dropped - this was noticeable but if not the case with the Aston no point in wasting money.
Most performance cars do this.Only the best for my baby, it's V-power all the way. Could be one of the reasons why on a rolling road she was rated at 400BHP at the flywheel, when other Vantages on the same day and same equipment were showing 365-381bhp. I know there could be other factors at play here (new tyres, not a friday car, she never does short city trips, and always gets a good workout), but I was happy. The 10% or so uplift is nothing really. I also run my diesel on v-power diesel when I can get it, and I really notice the difference here, but then she is a 331bhp diesel.
On a std Vantage, the "super" fuels are worth about 20Nm of torque at peak torque, but on a usual UK day (i.e. cold!) don't make much difference on peak power, as the engine is not detonation limited above 6800rpm. BUT on a warm day, (or a dyno run), super fuels will give you the full power output, wereas a 95ron fuel will drop you maybe 5 to 10 bhp.
Best power / torque i have seen was always on Shell V Power, especially the Euro grade stuff which is 100ron as std.

My dealer said not to bother with the super stuff, doesnt reckon it will make any difference on AMV8.
I'm afraid your dealer is talking out of his bottom. You'll need Super Unleaded to achieve the full potential in the V8. I know, I mapped the things!
