My car only came with the standrad stereo, but think I would like to add some rear speakers.

Does anyone know if the car is pre-wired to take them, and know what size they are ?

Cheers

Following conversations with various specialist who have done a great deal of upgrades on Astons.
They recommended changing the front speakers and amplifier etc. They DO NOT recommend installing rear speakers.

When I get an opportunity I will send you a list of speaker/amp/crossover upgrades.

They range from approx £1,000 to £9,500.

Thanks.......from reading the manual the upgraded system comes with rear speakers though so would it not be possible to add these ?

I'm not particularly sensitive to the hi-fi and what it can do but think it would just sound better with some sound behind as well as up front......

That's the assumption people usually make.
However having a pair of premiumer speakers sound far superior to 4 cheaper speakers.

Have you ever been in a car with a pair of budget speakers at the front and a pair of expensive speakers at the rear? It sounds aweful!

If you wish I can send you the telephone numbers of some ICE specialist who have done work on AM's.

Hi

Forgot to mention, that Aston Works will upgrade your sound system to the premium system for £1,700.

Spoke to some dealers who did not offer very possitive feedback with regards to upgrading to a premuim sound system!

Have a chat with yor dealer to see what they recommend.

i also was lucky enough to find a car that had the premium audio in it and cranking the sub up caused my chest to explode! not literally obviously as that would've made a mess of the leather but it is a very sweet sounding system. I had the upgraded bose system in an old TT and that was good but pales in comparisson to the AM premium audio.

i think the rear/surround speakers add to the overall sound of the system too. i think it's an upgrade well worth getting.

That would be great thanks.

My plan was to dfind the maker sof the speakers in the car (poss B&O) and buy some from that manufacturer that complimented the fronts ?

Would that work ?

its an Alpine system - the factory fit one that is, and yes, its a well set-up one, you would match the sound with say £1K spent on Alpine gear though aftermarket, if its installed and set-up properly ..proper car audio is like proper indoors hi-fi, except the addition of a terrible environment to listen in as far as set up and eq is concerned

the premium audio also has a more powerful amp and sub, youd need the whole lot to replicate the sound

if you dont know what you are doing, go to a reputable car audio installer and get them to do it, theres quite a few with Aston experience

My first Vantage had the premium system and my new one doesn't.

There's not that much in it.

OK, so I had an after market specialist look at the car when it was in the garage last week.......imagine my shock when to have 2 rear speakers fitted (nothing else) and had no preconceptions about what it would be, but was quoted £3K + VAT eek

All I want is some speakers in the back that will have the volume go up down when I turn it up/down - not concerned with fade/balance, just want some noise from behind my head as well as in front etc.

What am I missing - given this is an Alpine unit why can't I buy a pair of Alpine speakers for, say £200, and fit them and have them do this confused

i dont think its a head unti with built in baby amp for starters - its a 6 cd tuner, custom made ,with a seperate amp

so im guessing here (I havnt had the car apart myself) that to add a pair of rear speakers youd need some speakers (say £200) another amp (£200) some cables, maybe some dynamat and lots of labour ...for the life of me I cant see how they get to £3k + vat ...that would buy you a seriously nice hi-end system complete

Id try somewhere else and get another opinion although personally I find the standard stereo just fine ! smile

The std stereo is pretty good, just that I've always had speaker bias to the rear, so that's what I'd ideally like..........

Will get a second opinion......

Personally, I'd just take F22 out of the fuse box and listen to the exhaust note - that's real ICE....!
