Hi all,

I'm feeling the need of buying an AM Vantage to give me a smile in these very depressing days.

Can't decide to go for a Roadster or Coupe and I'm wondering that there is only a small difference in price for 2007 modells.

Is the Roadster not desirable enough compared to a Coupe or what is the reason that the Roadsters depreciate more than the Coupes?

Any advice to go for or to avoid Sport Shift gearbox?

Looking for a lot of opinions :-)

Christof

Roadsters are much more seasonal price wise.

Never been a fan of chopped cars personally. Coupes always look prettier to my eyes (and definitely compared to a rag top with roof up).

Manual/Sportshift? Try them both. The SS isn't as bad as some would have you believe. But it's not the slickest automated manual out there. The manual gearbox IMO is very good. Some heft to it, but this is no bad thing (unless you're a girl).

I've had both coupe and roadster. Over all, I think the coupe has the edge on looks (but that's just personal preference) but the Roadster is the one. Roof off, the sound is even better than in the coupe, you feel more in touch with the surroundings and, as the car was designed from the off to be a convertible, you lose nothing (or an imperceptible amount) in rigidity to the coupe.

My Roadster is manual and, having driven the 09 spec with the Sportshift, which is supposed to an improvement on the older version, I would not change. In town, it's a PITA and, on the open road, it offers nothing over the satisfaction of a well-timed manual change. The Sportshift might have the adge on a circuit, but what proportion of your time will you spend on trackdays?!

Roadster/manual.
