Hi Guys

I'm looking to buy a black DB9 imminently, basically I have no wish to offend or waste my time or anyone elses with silly offers especially if its a private sale. So a question for those of you who follow the market:-

There seem to be quite a few advertised at around £55,000, if i offer around 46/47k is this reasonable, too high or too low.
I know it depends on the car, but as a ballpark figure.

Any thoughts welcome.

im afraid its hard to say, as most of us here, like you, only see the advertised prices, not the sold for ones...its not like houses wheres theres a database you can check up on real sell price and that

so its for you to judge, between you and the seller, individual car, how desperate they are to sell etc ...make and offer, they can only ask for more..

If I were a seller I would rather have a low but serious offer than no offer at all, and if it wasn't enough for me I would politely thank you and say so, no hard feelings. There's nothing cheeky about near on £50k.

I would assume that any offers below 10% i.e. £5000 would be taking the biscuit, however depends how desperate the seller is to sell!

Under normal circumstances going to view a car for 55k and then offering 46k, would be considered takeing the biscuit. Vendor has the car cleaned, takes you out for a test drive, talks to you about his P&J, and then you bid 10k less. However, these are NOT normal circumstances we are living in and no doubt there are more desperate sellers than normal - but conversely do not assume everybody is credit crunched. Yes, they are looking to sell obviously, but not have their pants pulled down. I would be open and up front over the phone and then place your bid. You may or may not get lucky. And if you do get a DB9 for 46K that is good business sir.

I very much agree with the above. As the market is so funny its very hard to gage prices and obviously i do not wish to pay over the top.
I'm just trying to work out what the going rate is at the moment. If i can buy a car for less than the going rate then i'll be happy, but that said i'm quite prepared to pay a genuine price for the right car. There are not that many black cars about though.

check out this thread:

should give you an idea of what you should be looking to pay, especially for volantes. FWIW I'm pretty sure that we'll see 04 coupes with about 40k miles going for £35k at auction next year.....

Great comment. You will have to look hard to find a 04 DB9 as the first ones in real volume are 54.
