I also would be interested in this question as i am trying to persuade the wife to sell her xkss and buy a vantage. Would never sell my cerbera for one, but would love both.

Warrenty Jobs

new front grill due to milking
new brake pressure transducer which caused my DSC to be on

I have had mine for 8 years, so must be one of the longer owners around (Vantages only started in 1999), it's also in for a service at the moment. I have every invoice since the day it was built, including the internal works service ones pre-delivery, so it may be one of the better documented Vantages around.

The car has never broken down so there are no big problems in its history to push up costs. It has only been serviced by Works Service, The Approved Dealer or Chiltern Aston and is done twice a year as recommended (but probably not needed).

Excluding the costs of GT upgrading the brakes and suspension (£10k) it has on average cost £3,722 per year for all maintainence and service costs. It has done 42k miles at an average cost of £1.24 per mile (exc petrol & insurance)

Insurance has been falling as me and the car age, and this year was only £563.15.

I've no idea what MPG it does, I'd guess 17-20 mpg, others may have more accurate stats.

It is interesting that two posters are TVR owners like me!! My DB7 vantage has a main dealer service once a year (It does only 2000 miles a year) to maintain its value as much as possible. That service costs £750 pa. Insurance is about £300 pa MORE than for my cerbera but then my DB7 is worth much more. Because I can do most jobs on my TVR myself I spend about £750 pa using highest quality synthetic oils etc. For someone who has to pay a TVR garage all the time I am sure an Aston would be cheaper to service and repair. Since new, my DB7 has had only a coolant header tank and an a/c heat exchanger replaced under warranty. Fuel consumption is about 17 mpg compared with about 19 mpg for my cerbera. MOT is the same and road tax very slightly more for an Aston. Depreciation over the next six years will be at most £3000 pa for the Aston and about £500 for my cerb. I think overall costs do not differ that much. On paper the performance looks similar; however in the real world a DB7 is much more civilised than a cerbera but definitely not as fast.

And me smile Hoping the Aston is going to be about £1k a year in servicing / issues - not planning on going to a main dealer for servicing smile
