DB9 Extended warranty - is it worth it?
Discussion
My DB9 is out of warranty in a couple of weeks. My dealer has quoted me approx £2500 1 yr / £4500 2 yr cover, or a "lower level" cover for about £1k/yr less.
Is it worth it? Apart from the cost of any major repairs, I guess a car with an AM warranty has a higher value than one without.
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who's faced a similar choice and what conclusion they reached.
Thanks, Kent.

I have the same problem coming up in Feb and was quoted £2250 for 1 year extension of the full warranty. I don't intend to sell any time soon so I am inclined not to sign up as £2250 covers any minor problems and I work on the assumption that all insurers work hard at not paying up if something catastrophic happens .
However mine is a manual so I would be interested in knowing what it costs to replace a clutch and whether a clutch would be covered anyway ? I only do about 3k a year and tend to keep my cars so this has a bearing on my thinking. Credit crunch should mean you wll find independant garages to do repairs at reasonable rates if things go wrong . Does anybody know if you can buy warranties from other insurers for less ?

my warranty is indeed an extended one, extended before the existing one runs out.
However getting warranty cover for the car if it has been without one for however long is still cheaper than the extended version. The claim limit is affected though.
The salesman did advise though that warranties were due to drop in price, so sit tight if possible

I think that it is worth it. Despite the fact that my MY05 has been faultless without a single hiccup or unscheduled visit to the dealer I have opted for the extended warranty based on sods law. You just know that there will be some gearbox failure or other thing the day you go out of warranty and regardless of how minor the issue might be AML surely knows how to charge for repairs.
For a V8 Vantage to put a warranty on the car you must get an inspection done at your cost even if the car has a full dealer service history.
Dealer price: £183 (approx 4 hours labour)
Aston Works: Offered this at around 1 hours labour if I get it done at the same time as the service.
And the warranty cost as of 1st March has been reduced to £1099 for 1 year (full cover).
Hope this helps.

I seem to recall that there was a lot of talk about this on the AMOC site recently.
There was a lot of concern about the number of things that were not covered by the policy (exclusions).. however if the cost has drop to 1k per year that may not be such a big issue now..
check the samll print..
