I have just waved a tearful goodbye to my V8V. The time has come for a more "family friendly" motor and getting sign off from the missus to keep both proved more difficult than imagined. I have to say that I have loved every minute of it - before that I had a 996 and to compare the two seems redundant despite the many threads on here doing just that.... I drove a few 997s but the first drive in the Aston did it for me completely and there was no going back. The car is special and the public reaction to it vs the Porker is unbelievable.

Unfortunately the current "economic climate" has obviously had a marked effect on residuals.... and I have to say it has really galled me seeing and hearing so called "motor enthusiasts" being unable to contain themselves with glee at how much astons have fallen.... and I admit when I realised I had to sell her and the hit I would take the enjoyment did come out of it a bit... but Ive come to realise that 1. it doesnt actually matter (the 1yr old SUV I am now the proud owner of has dropped nearly as much ) and 2. If i'm honest i woudl still have bought the car even knowing the depreciation it would see as its been worth every penny (just about....). Once I figured that out I've been enjoying it completely again!

Anyway hope that you all continue to enjoy your astons ..... and that we see a reduced stream of threads moaning about depreciation on them! Hopefully I'll be back in the club in the future......

Noooooo!!! don't do it!

In the current economic climate, family are more valuable on the second hand market.

Sell them !!!!! Keep the Vantage!!!

I don't think people are gloating because they have seen others loose money.

I would have said that many (including me) are just excited that they may now have access to cars that were once at an unaffordable (or at least difficult to justify to the wife!) price point.

...was referring to the likes of the Top Gear "comedians" etc rather than potential buyers......
