Another one joining the V8 Vantage club
Discussion
hi all,
this is my first post here but i've been doing a lot of reading on PistonHeads forums and perusing of the classifieds.
i went to look at a V8 Vantage yesterday with all intentions of being very sensible and just having a look and talking about stuff and then walking away and thinking about things etc. We ended up going for a test drive and i was sold! there and then. I was pretty sure i was going to buy one eventually and was thinking about waiting until feb/mar next year but the feel, the look, the noise of it meant it was useless to resist and i had to have it there and then.
so, i put a deposit down and should be picking it up on Saturday.
it's mercury silver with phantom grey leather and white stitching and looks amazing! very low mileage (under 6k) and in perfect condition.
anyway, just wanted to say hi and i'll post some pics when i pick her up.

i think i got a good deal . the price was about right comparing it to other cars around at the moment and i got £1k off the list, 1 yr road tax and a 6 month extended warranty when the manufacturers one runs out in April.i could've got a cheaper car but this one is in perfect condition with low mileage and the colour that i really like so i don't mind paying a bit more for something that i really like instead of just plumping for something that isn't my favourite just because it's a V8V. it's also from a dealer (not AM dealer though) so i'm hopeing that i will get support from them which i may not from a smaller operator or private sale.
all in all, i'm well chuffed!
it is a lovely part of the world with some very nice country roads that i plan on taking it out on!
i got the car yesterday and all i can say is that i made the right choice. previously, had a 911 which was great and have been looking at the TVR Sagaris which is very nice too but there's something about the Aston that does it for me.
i'm probably going to get flamed for this but the 911 is just a bit too common at the moment, which is actually a testament to Porsche in that they have produced such a great car that it is so popular. also i've had one before so wanted something different this time around. And the TVR, to me, isn't a daily use car so i would have to have a second car for daily driving and i can't afford that (but maybe one day, who knows?).
So, i plumped with the V8 Vantage. one of the most beautiful cars i have ever seen. it has that touch of class about it and is a british car and....well....it's an Aston isn't it. i know it make me sound like a bit of a snob but it's nothing like that at all. ever since i was a kid and watching Bond movies etc the Aston has just been it for me and now i have one i will cherish it and drive it for, hopefully, a long time to come.
Now all i've got to do is save up so i can make the balloon payment in 2 years time.

the weather is a bit rubbish so no pics as yet. but hopefully soon.
No excuse, get the camera out Agree with all you say about the car. If my experience is anything to go by, you'll love it more as you get to know it.
IIRC Porsche make around 10x more 911s than Aston do V8s. So no surprise they're more common. Like you say, they're nice cars. But there's just something not quite there with them.
