I know someone who's interested in buying a DB9, can anyone give any advice on the best way to go about it, and things to look for in the car? (I have done a search and read through quite a few threads already). Looking to buy 2nd hand, more interested in getting an honest understanding of the value you'd get from different ages of car than a prescribed budget. I guess like most Aston owners, he's more interested in getting a good car that won't be a hassle than saving a few quid on the purchase price. He knows the market has fallen, and is likely to go lower before it gets any better. Paying cash, I'd expect there are some good deals around at the moment?
Where are good places to look for the car - are the dealers good, are there any independents that know their stuff? He's based in West Surrey but no need for that to be a constraint, getting the best advice is what's important. I guess most cars from trade are sold with some kind of warrranty, any significant differences using dealers or independents?
Are there any particular things to look for in the car, defects that should have been fixed, major service costs to look out for etc? Also spec, anything optional the car should have - and what are the views on the sports pack from 06? Do many cars have this?
Any other experiences on things he'd benefit from knowing before getting in to this, and the general ownership experience appreciated.
