In January i'm shunning easyjet to Nice for our annual business kick-off in favor of my Aston and the lure of a long drive. Does anyone have any good route advice for the trip down to Nice - i.e. what to avoid, what not, ideas of a stop south of Lyon, etc. Also non-route advice welcome such as Gendarm hotspots ;-)

I've heard that the pedal to the right of the brake can help with this. Apparently the further it is pressed the more problems it solves...just a rumour...nuts

we did very similar trip to antibes last summer and it was a real treat using alastair sawday,FRENCH HOTELS CHATEAUX & OTHER PLACES for accomodation.
Took it easy till south of paris then clogged it not seeing, or hearing later, from gendarmes.
stayed south of lyon at MICHEL CHABRAN 29 AVENUE 45 PARALLELE NEAR VALLENCE a steady room with a stunning restaurant ! Take direct (sat nav) going but try the bridge in the clouds coming back.
iam taking y vantage to the loire in june i enjoyed it so much
