Am in similar situation (no hijack intended)
Looking to replace my daily driver e46 M3 in which I cover about 18k per annum and which performs faultlessly with a year old Vantage. Having a car which is 100% reliable is important. Saying that I spend about £3k per annum on servicing, tyres and warranty for the BM.
Havent driven the Vantage yet which I guess will be the clincher. Will it blow my mind?
What typical MPG can you expect in mixed driving?

I'm averaging 17mpg combined and that's driving the car so it's exhausts are sore and my smile is bigger than of my face. On a 2 hour trip on the motorway, I can get about 21mpg.
Owning and driving a V8V is the best experience ever and a great time to buy. It's difficult to compare a V8V and an M3, the Aston is 'hand-built automotive machine art' the M3 is a 'mass-produced drivers car'. If you want to feel top of the world, with a seismic pulse rate, a throat as dry as a nuns bits, then get the Aston and enjoy.

See, your comment is just plain mean to those of us that are still a year away from an AMV8 :POwning and driving a V8V is the best experience ever and a great time to buy. 16000 miles so far from new and not a hint of wear.depends how you drive it.i suppose if you are constantly changing down at high revs unecessarily to impress bystanders then you are asking a bit much of your clutch.i can fuk a clutch in any car in a couple of thousand miles with little effort
33K miles here, trackdays, touring 3000 miles in 10 days, general use ...same clutch it came with ...must be something at fault for it to be eating them at 4K miles !
other than that, no more expensive to run than a mid-high end German car
watch out which delear you use - as with others, labour can vary between £90 to 150 per hour ...so on a 5.5 hour 10K service makes a lot of difference. Mine is usually about £700
consumables like pads and tyres have been the same as most other cars too - £200 for a pad set fitted and £200 a corner (ish) on tyres
fuel - I avg 18mpg, and can get 25mpg on the motorway
Mine is just a daily driver car I go everywhere in ...a very nice one at that

Think I might get an early 4.3 in a year or so - think I can afford it all and as a toy it'll be babied anyway. Although that does mean the Monaro has to go
