Did anyone else go to the Aston open day at gaydon today??

wasn't it amazing! V8 vantage (pre production car), Db7 Zagato DB7 and lots of fantastic DB9's!!

Now that I have seen them in the flesh, they are absolutly gorgeous. Much better, in my opinion then the V8 Vantage.

And the new factory is superb. I also found out that:

-There is a DB9 Volante built, but not tested yet.
-The Vanquish Vantage will have about 600 bhp (the maximum for the 6.0 Litre V12 without forced induction)
-Working at gaydon must be an amazing place. I don't think I've ever seen a more enthusiastic, helpful and knowledgable workforce.
-The styling of the Db9 was worked on as far back as 2001, which must mean the Vanquish replacement must be styled by now...

Can't wait!

Was it by invitation only? I'd love to visit Gaydon to see my favourite cars being built....although they'd have to keep my at arms length to prevent dribbling on the paintwork

Vanquish Vantage eh? How did you get to gear about that? Wouldn't have thought they'd be giving away such info. Still, can't wait for the car. Any idea when etc?

Did you take any piccies, and if so, can you post 'em?

It was open to members of the Aston martin Owners Club, but you had to send off for tickets.

I have loads of pictures (factory and cars) and i'll post them on my website sometime this week

There is plans for a high-powered version of the Vanquish. This is to further distance it from the DB9. As far as I am aware no specific outputs have been decided on as yet, but certainly will put out in excess of 500 bhp.

There is also a new style alloy wheel and the option of sports seats for the 2004 MY. The wheels are similar to those on the AMV8 concept car.
