I have a 2006 DB9 with the 950w Linn stereo, does anyone know if you can have a hard connection for an ipod fitted? Thanks in advance

I believe works service offer a variety of audio upgrades these day for a number of "old" cars. But be sitting down when you ask the price.

Aftermarket providers are likely to be your better bet.

Aston works will fit am iPod integration kit for £1175. The Aston dealer in Cheltenham will fit a similar kit for around £600

DB9 or V8?

If the latter, are you sure it's similar?

Be interesting if they could give the details.

If the Aston set up needs bits costing 700 (which I don't believe frankly) then this must be radically different. I wonder if it's an FM system plumbed into the actual aerial cable (these were offered before the Wodk's Service retro fit was around).

I have seen pictures of cars with the works service retro fit ipod connection. In all the pictures that i have seen it is a hard wired connection type. I am pretty sure that when you connect your ipod the aston wings come up on the display and so does your ipod information.

Hello all,

Now this is a quandary. There is an Ipod kit available for late model AM cars, DB9, V8 etc. But because I run the company that does it, according to forum rules I cannot advertise.

What do I do Mr Moderator?

Kind Regards

Have mailed you wink

btw, (ref one comment on your site) bluetooth in my V8 used to work perfectly with my Blackberry (Nokia's garbage N series was another matter). Could even use voice dialling with it...

I have a 2006 DB9, although with the 260w stereo. I had Works Service retro-fit the i-pod connection a few weeks ago. I had an FM connector device before, but it was rubbish and kept losing the station. This is a much better (albeit more expensive) option, and allows full control of the i-pod through the car stereo controls. The i-pod sits in the glove compartment and is charged whilst connected. Price was as indicated above.

I'd have a word with Auto-Audio in Alperton if I were you smile

600 quid for an Ipod kit? Even for a 100k car that's a bit silly!

I think the issue with the V8 system at least is that the interconnects are fiber optic.

600 is also much better than 1175! But I agree that the ultimate value has to be considered carefully.

Stop being tight Murph, get it done wink

Mines at Works whilst I'm away having it done; might be the 'cheap' option in the end if you get my meaning.

I can't - I'm from Yorkshire so it's genetic, deeply embedded in the wallet gene.

I just cannot justify 1,175GBP to hook the old iPhone up.

The Griffin iTrip is OK for now (combined with some mix CDs in the autochanger) and will see how the other options develop. I may well have decided to change the car before I make my mind up though...

If you change your car instead, £1,175 loss will seem like small change and not just to a Yorkshire man smile

Indeed it will.

But then I'll get quite a lot more in return than just being able to play my iPod in the car wink (FWIW I wouldn't bother changing it for a later model V8 at this stage. Completely against conventional wisdom I don't actually find the 4.3 slow enough to warrant it!).
