I had decided that I would look at test driving a V8 Vantage 4.7; and that idea nearly came to fruition but then I thought for balance I should try the new 470 brake DB9, just in case I preferred the GT experience more, and then I read the recent thread about buying a Vanquish S and I even thought of buying an older one and having the manual conversion carried out...........but then I ventured into my local supercar showroom; and there she was......all curvacious and sleek and oh so gorgeous, so much so that when the sapphire crystal key was dangled I just couldn't resist.....and so after much soul searching (to justify disposing of other much loved members of the automotive familyfrown) and (to justify yet another major purchase to Mrs Sagpack;)) negotiation on the price, trade in etc....I am going to be the extremely proud owner of one of Aston Martin's finest creations....a Casino Royale DBScloud9

Picking her up Saturday all being well and I cannot waitbiglaugh

Hi Camel, apology passed on and whilst I will in no way hold it against you, your post did have a bit to do with it!biggrin I read your thread and then rang my local dealer about a slightly older Vanquish S with the idea of doing the manual conversion but they talked me out of that and into the idea of the last of the Ss ie like yours a 2007 because it would have all the bugs ironed out (and if you've read my profile you'll see that unfortunately I had an early S go 'pop' on me) but when we started to talk dosh I realised that witha bit of tough negotiation I might be able to get my hands on a DBS.....and the rest as they say is history!biglaugh

I'm up for that, the forecast round here's looking pretty grim Saturday afternoon so I'm in with a good chance biggrin . Is the winner the best picture or first to post a wet Aston? I might have an advantage if it's the latter because I believe I'm north of you so the damp stuff should reach me first laugh.

Hi Angel, sorry to have upset you! biggrin but thanks. BTW I read a thread the other night and I'm sure there was a picture of you driving a DBS at Aston's facility at the Ring, was that on here? And what was it like on the track? Also (sorry, lots of questions!) it looked like it was raining pretty heavily there, did you drive the car in the wet and if so what was it like? I've been having some banter with one of the guys on here about the DBS and its supposed 'edgy' handling in the wet, I've driven it on the road and thought it perfectly ok but would appreciate your views if you've experienced a bit more full throttle action hehe

Every sharply focused sportscar is somewhat evil in wet. It's part of the package driving

Or one could stick with those boring allwheel drive understeer vehicles, it's just not that much fun in the end.
