Hello all
Sitting here shaking - I've just bought a Vanquish S - what have I done? Does the world really need another 6 liter V12 on the roads??
Went round to HWM this morning for a look, ended up spending the whole morning there, had a good test drive, then decided to take the plunge
What a noise, unbelievable. Road presence is just stunning, and it feels absolutely planted, and did I mention the noise? A couple of camera-phone pics below in the interim, will be picking her up next Saturday and planning a nice mini hoon down to the coast I think. Hope the weather holds.

Thanks chaps, I'll tell you this is going to feel like a long week until I pick it up.
Some thoughts on the flappy paddle gearshift as a lot of people query it - I thought is was actually smoother than my old 360, slower possibly but far easier to trickle through slow traffic as there was no driveline shunt as the clutch engaged and disengaged. I found it easy, even on the first drive to smooth out the upshifts by lifting slightly.
I suppose it's either something you like or not but I have no plans to go the manual conversion route. I also suspect that the software was uprated throughout the model's lifespan and this is an 07 car reportedly with he latest.

Congratulations chapgreat choice, and yes the noise is simply awesome! It was once described to me as like God clearing his throat! That was when I was on a test drive and the salesman said get it upto .7 leptons in 6th and then paddleshift down three gears (whilst marginally lifting) and then nail it! and the noise as it did those three rapid downshifts was quite simply the best sound ever.
Would you mind telling us what sort of deal you got, it would be interesting to know what the mind set of a main stealer is in the current climate. Other PHers have commented on other threads that there are good deals out there but no bargains, how did you get on?
And congrats again, the car looks really cool in black.

I won't go into details of the price as that is perhaps unfair to the dealer. Suffice it to say that I had a rather optimistic view of the discount I could expect, despite the market conditions they were not prepared to take a low ball offer on this car.
For my part however I did want this particular car, and for the year, mileage and latest dashboard spec I am very happy with the figure we eventually agreed upon. I think the Vanquish market is perhaps different to the Vantage market, after all it only takes one person, and in this instance I was that person!!
I was also keen to buy from HWM after having done a bit of research, they do have a lot of history with AM, being their oldest main dealer. They are independently owned and have some long serving people both in sales and service. I was very impressed with the buying experience and to me, the peace of mind these factors added just enhanced the whole "feel good factor".
Only six days left now............................

They were telling me a story about the prototype Vanquish. Apparently it had circular rear lights and when presented to Bez he said no way. Some hasty last minute re-thinking and fabrication gave us the lights we see now - however they forgot to add reflectors which of course are a legal requirement
So if you have a look at the rear, the £5 Halfords jobbies near the exhaust were the answer!!
Urban legend or not - who knows

That a trick question?
Good choice on the S. I came straight out my Sagaris to test the S and after my experience I suddenly understood the old boxing analogy..."Getting hit by Ali was like being hit by a Ferrari at 100mph, getting hit by Foreman was like being hit by a Cadillac at 50mph."
The S hits with one *hell* of a punch!

Definitely, the camera will be whirring next weekend, I can assure you I found the interior really comfortable, the seats are a bit like the Ferrari sports seats with modest shoulder wings. My first impression was how snug it was, smaller inside than I imagined. My wife sat in the back on the test drive and confirmed that it was the smaller end of the snug scale in there too.
