Looks like a top quality job.

Did you consider having all the leather surfaces done?

HI Guys

I thought long and hard about how much to get done as I did'nt want to go overboard on it and I also wanted to retain some leather. I think I got a good mix and can always have an extra panel done now I have had the base job done.

I asked about having some of the steering wheel done but the trim shop said they could not do it on that wheel because of the way the leather is bonded to it. The whole job cost me 1500 euros in Munich which I thought very good. Khan charge 5 grand in the Uk I believe. Not sure how many panels they do mind you.

Nice set of Asanti wheels next methinks and a Larini back box smile

Great job for that sort of money IMO.

I might be inclined to consider doing the rest of the upper dash (leaving the lowest bits leather), the centre of the door cards and possible the central portions of the seats. (can you retain the stitching?).

Be careful with wheels. I've yet to see a better design than the 7 spoke 19s IMO. I'm even not that keen on the 5 spoke jobs on the N400.

Exhaust - consider a Tubi. Sound is incredible. And it's only sound/weight/build quality that you should worry about - forget any claims on power uplift.

I think wheels are a personal choice although fo course you can runi a car if you get it wrong. I saw an AMV8 here the other day with some black 22 inch hammans on it and it looked very sexy and low! I will play with that.

Do you think Tubi to be better than Larini then for the back box? Are there any engine mods I can do to mine? Tuning, chips, porting etc?

Tubi look more nicely made IMO. Sound is more subjective, however I'm a Tubi fan.

Chips etc? There are some, but results are far from conclusive. If I were doing anything like this right now I'd go Prodrive or the rumoured Aston route. But both are pricey (or likely to be in the case of the Aston ones).

The Aston upgrade is c£5K.

I got the info sheet from the local dealer regarding retrofitting the Sports Pack (£5111 inc VAT or £2850 wheels only) and asked about the "N400" power upgrade. Price is very similar.

I will find out what the upgrade costs here In Munich. What is included in the N400? (apart from wheels)

Are they offering the N400 upgrade now, I thought it featured a different wiring loom & couldn't be retro fitted, if its £5k for 20 horses alone I'd forget that one?

Neil interesting about the sports pack £2490 on a new car & you say £5111 to retro fit... ouch!

Who is actually fitting this 'upgrade'?

Car is booked in with The Works Service in a couple of weeks and they don't do it confused

That's what I thought too. At £5K for the retrofit I can't see many going for it (Aston dealer told me that he thought the same). They have, however, had a few takers for the wheels though.

The power upgrade details have not been mailshotted (is that a word?)to customers yet but they did show me an internal memo which clearly showed that they were about to. Same sort of ball park price, ie c£5K.

As you say, if it is for only 20bhp then I can't see folk queuing up for it.

Isn't the power thing an ECU tweak and airbox?

Like you all, for 20bhp it's poor value. I suspect N400 residuals might be another factor in their pricing decision though...

That looks like a great job, and exceptional value for money too.

I feel that you'll struggle to find 'aftermarket' alloys that look better than the 4.3/N400/4.7 on an AMV8. Those wheel sets were seemingly designed with the car in mind, and seemlesly blend with the body of the car IMHO. However, you clearly have an eye for detail - you did such a good job on the interior you will probably pick something great and prove me wrong smile

I have had Capristo (too lairy for an Aston), Tubi (big fan too) and Larini (fab too) on my Fezzas and Masers, and Tubi certainly did not seem better in the build quality department to my eye. In fact the detailings/design of the Capristo and Larini left the Tubi behind in those departments. The attention to detail was stunning. Nevertheless, build quality was on par across the board. I am holding out for an AMV8 myself at the mo, and on sound which exhaust to go for is a toughy. However, adding the build quality issue, I will probably go with the Larini. The brackets look a million times stronger than the bits of bar stitch welded on to the Tubi box. They just look too brittle IMO. Pretty though. Regardless, I know the Tubi and Larini sounds will both be awesome. Check respective manufacturer's websites for clips.

Was speaking to one of the aftersales guys at Stratstone and they told me they had a hell of a job with a V8 recently with a Miltek exhaust on as it was triggering check lights on the dash. Stick with the big boys - you get what you pay for. Speak to Manu at Scuderia and David at Larini. Top blokes. Oh just remembered Quickstainless do a system too but Tubi/Larini seems to be the weapons of choice on here.

There are companies out there such as Paramount who are 're-mapping' these cars and claiming massive gains but their dyno data has proved iffy thus far. Only get your car done by such companies if you are prepared to have your car dyno tested by another independent dyno shop to back up the claims. For the same reason I won't bother commenting on the Supercharger conversions that give you an extra million bhp and turn the car into an aeroplane. You gotta love those American tuners!

I had not seen the N400 wheels until now and my god they are gorgeous. What size are they by the way and where do I get a set from?

That pic is the DB9 LM roadcar promo shot if memory serves. But yes the wheels are similar on the V8 N400. I would say the dealer is your best bet old chap. Even if you found the manufacturer I am sure they would be under contract to Aston Martin for a good few years yet. Funny story, I was speaking to a Stratsone aftresales guy as I said earlier to see what aftermarket bits they recognise/recommend etc. We discussed the AM N400-style ecu upgrade (pricey), aftermarket exhausts etc. When I asked how to supply and fit the N400 rear lights he replied, "Not without an N400 chassis number sir". It appears they want to avoid AMV8 owners upgrading the look to the N400. Apparently they were inundated with requests a while back. Wonder if all dealers have that policy?
