Anything you hate about the AMV8?
Discussion
Had my car a nearly six months now and still love getting in it and just going for a drive no matter where, it makes all my journeys that little bit more special.
Now with all the cars I have owned there has been something that I hated be it for whatever reason, well today I found one on the Vantage. The wing mirrors, the infuriating way that no matter how much you dry them they always seem to have more water in reserve just waiting for you to finish cleaning the car and BAM you shut the door and water dribbles down the door again.
I know it's probably time for my OCD medication but my god it gets on my man boobs.
Is it just me or do any of you have similar grips?

I'm not sure 'Hate' really applies, more like gripes ................
1) Boot fills with water when you open the tailgate (when its been raining.... hmm, did I really need to add the last bit! )
2) Gearbox is a tad agricultural when cold (well 2nd gear is anyway)
3) Sat Nav is rubbish

up to now i love most things about my v8V, agree about the stiffness of the gearbox when cold, but the major thing that frustrates me is not having to being able to use my ipod and having cd's scattered around the car..grrrrr.......also the bluetooth phone still gets my numbers wrong when speak/dialing a number......oh yes and the voice on the satnav who in the hell approved that....

Let's be honest any voice repetitively telling you what to do is annoying, the missus springs to mindEdited by MADT350 on Monday 15th September 17:18

You mean that, after washing, you don't get water running out from beneath the rear lights as well? Hardly call it a hate, more of an annoyance but I know what you mean.I wish it was as good for "lazy" driving as it is for sporty driving. The relative lack of torque at low revs is what annoys me most, especially when cruising on a motorway in top gear. I love stirring the box when having some fun with it, but when it's been a long day and I'm cruising home at a relaxing pace then I wish the car would react more to a twitch of the throttle. I'm not after a "punch in the back" surge of power - just the sort of extra forward momentum that you'd expect at 3k revs from a reasonably powerful V8 in a light(ish) car!
My girlfriend drives a diesel Auris and even she complained about the AMV8's lack of torque on the motorway! And it wasn't a case of expecting more from the Aston - the Auris really does feel noticeably quicker in that (not unusual) situation. Admittedly her Auris has about the same peak torque as the Aston, and it obviously comes in at lower revs, but even so...
And, as everyone says, the SatNav is truly awful, and the more I try other systems the more awful I realise it is. My worst gripe with it is when you've set up an itinerary and go slightly off the suggested route, whereupon it automatically assumes that you don't want the next destination and starts giving directions to the one after on the itinerary!
Minor complaints though. And all part of the car's "character". Overall I still love it.

On my list are
1. Sat Nav was created for neanderthal man and if I had wanted a Volvo I would have bought one! Why can't we have a system like BMW? I.E Modern
2. Boot fills with water when opening the tailgate
3. Brake squeal (Although mine is ok for the moment)
4. For some reason I cant figure my seat digs into my right thigh after a while. (Anyone else)??
5. Milking of my front grill no matter what I polish it with
That's it for me None of these are really hates as I LOVE my Aston. I would just love it more if they were changed/fixed
Mark.

Do you know what ... I've never had a problem with the sat-nav in mine, but then I never rely blindly on these things.
I prefer to know where I am going first, and if I have any doubts about my destination, I refer to my £15 sat-nav (aka a map!) or multimap.
On the dozen or so occasions I have needed it, it has performed fine and got me to the destination.
Maybe I've just been lucky to have good experiences!

I've tried both a 56 Vantage and the new 08 Vantage Roadster N400. I loved the second one, however:
1) Satnav is rubbish and can't be read when there is too much sunshine or the top is down. I hate driving a supercar with my tomtom attached to the windscreen.
2) Water in the boot
3) The paddle shift didn't seem to be double clutch and was average. Audi's DSG and Porsche's PDK are way better.
I really enjoyed the N400 still.

How did they manage to do that ? I though it was just a matter of the shape of the lid and the fact that when you lift it the water just pours off the side and drops into the boot. My personal fix on those horrible rainy mornings is to open it only about 6 inches, throw in the brief case and quickly shut it again. Must be a real comedy act to watch
