Just had a letter through the door from my dealer confirming the V12 Vantage will make production and requesting a 10k deposit to secure my place on the list required by the end of september. No other info regarding production dates, specs, cost etc.

Anybody else received anything yet? From what the dealer told me previously this car would be either a 100 units ultra limited run at 160k plus or 300-400 units at 120-130k........lets hope its the latter as 160k may be asking a little too much even if it is likely to out perform the DBS.

Thoughts on the above appreciated, cheers.

I'd question your dealers motives. I've been given similar info to you - car probably due to appear end of next year btw - but neither my dealer nor Aston want any form of deposit yet.

Yeah, I've just been asked to put down R50k (3500 pounds) if I want to secure a spot on the list when/if it opens, that's it. They don't even know what the price will be or anything about it.

Thanks for the replies chaps. According to the letter i've received from my dealer, this deposit is to "secure my position on their forward order list" and request this deposit be paid no later than 30th September. While i'm not adverse to placing a deposit at this stage, there is no info on the car at all which is confirmed in the letter. I can understand if the V12 vantage is to be a limited run special but if it is planned to sit along side the rest of the model line up over a 2 year production run I agree it seems a little early to be requesting deposits. However, when i put my name on the list 2 - 3 months ago the dealer insisted they would not be requesting deposits until they'd had confirmation from the factory the car had been signed off and scheduled for production. Im at the factory on the 12th so i'll attempt to try and dig up a little more info if i can.

Any info you can dig up would be handy!
In the meantime I'd change dealers. Mine NEVER asks for deposits until they are required by Aston and you maintain your postion on his order bank by letter of intent and good faith only. He's never let me down. I have a habit of advance ordering all sorts of cars - BMWs, Fezzas, Porsches etc etc and it's interesting that the dealers who try to get a deposit out of you too soon also end up being the ones who prove less desirable/reliable to deal with over time..........purely in my experience of course! I don't mind having a deposit sitting with a Manufacturer but not so sure about having my money sitting in a Dealer's deposit account in the current economic climate.

Any updates on this? I am seriously considering p/xing the V8 for the V12, wonder when I have to actually bit the bullet and pay up? Way that V8 prices are moving at the moment the cost-of-change will be painful...

Hate those wheels I'm afraid. Too bling for me. I'm sure there will be other - expensive! - options though.

I'v heard or read that only 100 are to be made. So that will have little to no affect on standard V8 values.

They are making a 1000 but it will be priced so far above the 4.7 that surely the impact will be minimal.

This shows how times have changed, aston are limiting production to 1000!Im sure we can all remember limited production runs of 50/100.

Sorry, just a little nostalgic

I dont like the wheels either - the std ones in Anthracite are my preference smile

at £140K the V12 isnt even in the same price bracket ..thats quit a jump for owners of V8s

...but you do get some good kit ...carbon discs all round, carbon seats with alcantara, suspension, carbon aero bits (hate to think how much the splitter will cost to replace when you inevetibly catch it in the multi-storey!) all the MY09 bits from the V8 etc ...its not *just* the DBS engine

finally I think Aston have got a car to rival the Gallardos and F430s ...let alone those squashed beetle things wink

So, now it's arrived with no oil tank in the boot and the V12 just dropped in with no problems, do the doubters finally believe that I knew what I was talking about when I stated the facts about it last year ? wink

UK price is currently stated at £135k.

AM's engineers have certainly done very well in developing the car since the first developement mule - whch had a dry sump system with rad in the boot and initially lots of overheating issues. To end up with a simply modified sump and cooling system (albeit one that required fairly major mods to the forward bulkhead/chassis I believe) seems a bit of a result. Can't wait! smile
