Just had new front shocks on my yr 2000 DB7 Vantage much better but still veering left a bit, even on a level road. Has had tracking and geometry done and word from specialist is "they all do that a bit" - any views, is this true - bit crap for an originally £95k car! Thanks, Scott

Unfortunately, tracking and geometry is a bit of a fine art, and something that if not right drives me round the twist. I feel your pain.

Your specialist is wrong - I have had mine since 2001 and driven 40k miles in it and it has tracked left, right and been true depending on how long it was since I last had the suspension sorted by someone who knows about these things. I have had the front suspension V mounts replaced twice and the front wishbone bushes three times - although I also have had the GT suspension upgrade since about 2003. Basically the suspension is a bit delicate.

Tracking rods are very susceptible to damage - "sleeping policemen" and potholes can put the geometry out.

My AMV8 has been in for this no less than 4 times now. It tracks in a straight line but my wheel is off to the right about 5 degrees. Not much I know but drives me potty and yes for a supercar not so super ehh frown If only I could find someone that could "Really Sort this"

hi soulreaver, seen this on a few amv8's the problem is not necessarily at the front, so normal tracking will not rectify it, it could be caused by misalignment at the rear, so you are having to turn the wheel to counteract,it will require a full four wheel alignment (aligning the front wheels to the rear is sometimes called a four wheel alignment but they don't check the rear toe and thrustline or setback all which can cause this problem), most rear axles are never checked, if you can find somebody competent to repair it, i can provide the necessary tech info,

with the db7 this could also be the same problem they can be very camber sensitive if incorrectly set up, but as previously stated bushes etc are a common cause. Other common problems i come across are with tyres and on Aston's that are not used daily we have had pads tight in calipers and slightly binding, a few simple checks usually highlight the problems.
