yeah its happening...latest rumour is that it will be down from 600bhp to 'only' 550bhp, BUT the price has come down to - target price of £120K ...thats more like it...if they can do that, they are onto a winner I reckon
Looks like it'll be a dry-sumped version of the DBS's motor then, which is what I suspected...jus said:

Re dry sumping - it depends a little on how hardcore they want to go I think. There really doesn't appear to be room under bonnet to go this route so the gubbins needs to go in the boot - like to prototype. But will Aston think punters will except even less space? It certainly needs dry sumping, as my understanding is that the BIG problem with this car is cooling. Although dry sumping is usually used to, primarily, prevent oil starvation in corners it is also a great help in terms of cooling.
If the drysump tank etc goes in the boot and a cage reduces internal space the car becomes virtually a track day only toy and at +£120k there are a LOT of other options - not least GT3/GT3RS which still have room to take you on a Continental jaunt etc. For me this car needs to be very focused BUT still useable outside the trackday arena.

I think they have no choice but to dry-sump it, given the engine's height and the fact that the bonnet already has to be reprofiled with a bit of more of a bulge to fit the dry-sumped DBRS9 engine -- this was explained by Aston themselves regarding the prototype. Besides which the V8 is already dry-sumped. I didn't know the oil tank went into the boot for the V12 though, that's quite a PITA... surely they can find space for it in the bonnet?

£120k for 550bhp? I was hoping for £120k for 600bhp.
But it's a mighty impressive looking machine! Any news on a date for sales?
no problem...judging by the number of tuning firms springin up with products for the Vantage, another 50bhp just from changing the exhaust is no problemBut it's a mighty impressive looking machine! Any news on a date for sales?

Surely a cage would only be an option for those who wanted to go tracking? It looks like one awesome machine, and with all the bodywork mods, quite advanced down the line towards production.Edited by Pugsey on Monday 14th July 08:02
