V8 Vantage prices, any traders here?
Discussion
Hi
I am looking at getting into a Vantage soon but would ideally like to know why the residual values seem to be plummeting so badly, not wanting to throw anymore money away on depreciation than i have to. Wasnt the cheapest car available 6 months ago about 64k and now that i have started looking in earnest they seem to be all over the place at about 50k upwards. There is even one on autotrader at 41k.
So the question is what do you think a real world price to pay privately for a 05 model should be with say 15k miles on it? and also what do you reckon the cheapest sportshift can be bought for?
Many thanks

It seems often on Autotrader there are exotic cars at an unusually low price. I would say this is £10k under what you would expect, I have seen this with second hand V10 M5's too. Not sure if they are real adds and someone just wants rid, or are some kind of hoax or have some other agenda.

I think £55K for an 05 with a decent spec and 15K miles on is about right ...the ones cheaper are usually like m car - 30K miles + on them ....agree with the Autotrader scams...you ring up and the car dosent exist...or theres something wrong with it etc
Yep. Friend has recently bought just such a car. Lovely spec, 12k miles (why don't people USE 'em?) £56k from a main dealer. I have to say looking at the condition and price you do start wondering why you'd bother to pay more for something younger, but essentially the same. i think values are reflecting that there are a fair few around now (195 ads on autotrader minus a few for hire/wanted etc), they are last years new toy as it were and all used car values are only heading one way with current economy blues. Presumably they will stabalise a bit when they hit the 40s as there are a lot more people willing to pay 40k for a car than 60. One could also argue that maybe they are too expensive to start with as they are competing for owners who would buy a 911. Ive been watching maser gt prices come lower quickly, now i know masers traditionally depreciate but thats one hell of a stunning car (similar in impact to the V8V), again the number of buyers for an 80k car seems limited.
Are the warranties renewable? they must be coming to the end of the 3 year now. This may have a bearing on early cars too even if it is renewable it will cost and the new warranty probably wont be as comprehensive as the original one (if its like mercs one)
edited to add: seen the ad for the 41k car on a/t. looks like a misprint, nice spec and 11k miles. doesnt have any obvious looking scam faults in the ad

thanks for the replies chaps, so is the consensus that they could be nearer 41/43k by the end of the summer? on a side note i saw a DB9 at the dealers for the same price as a Vantage 64K, what a bargain. I dare not test drive it as i reckon it may put me off the Vantage and i bet the running costs are mega high.

Autotrader has at least 9 AMV8s on 06 plates with under 10,000 miles for under £57 (so £55 can be achieved).. some with main dealers.07 cars start from about £60K
Naturally dealers are buying them for a good £5K less than that.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it if anyone is looking for one that's two years old with low mileage and all the toys ....
Toro Red V8, 10k miles, one analy careful owner!
Derby was my local dealer when I bought the V8 in 2006 and it is still (sort of!) the closest now.
Just so happens they had an orange N400 in when I went to look at changing the car (end of finance). They also had a black N400 roadster in ....
If you get in touch with Stratstone Derby, speak to Gerald Flint - he sold me the N400 and has always been a nice guy to work with ... which is one reason I went back there.
