Hi Folks,
just wondering who has ordered or is thinking of ordering the new 4.7 with sport pack?

Anyone got a discount???

I know those of you who already have an AMV8 will be unlikely to upgrade for the big chunk of cash involved (I was the same with 996TT to 997TT), but as an ex-AMV8-er who has had a ball in a 997 GT3 for a year I am tempted back to Aston now the handling, grunt & gearbox has been fettled further!

Another question, has anyone owned both coupe & roadster over a good period to judge how good the roadster is as a drivers car against the coupe, usually I would avoid the chop top for rigidity & poor driving dynamics, also not sure on the looks roof up! But the Aston roadster seems to get good press & nearly new 4.3 cabs are going at big discounts

.... thoughts??!!!

I have ordered a new 4.7 Sportshift Coupe (MFW with Bitter Chocolate) with the Sports Pack and will be coming out of my current Clubsport 997 GT3.

No discount given (I am a new AM customer, with no history of purchases from them, this may have a bearing on the position, but I am not sure).

Prior to the recent 'technical upgrades' I would not have really considered the car, it has always been very attractive, but dynamically not what I was looking for. But, from what I have read the tweaks and new engine have transformed the car, and it is now something I really think I will enjoy owning.
Having said that I think if I currently owned a 4.3 I probably would not go out of my way to upgrade.

Re current Roadster. I used one for a week away. In approx 1500 miles I came to the conclusion that, with one exception, any differences were too minor to worry about. Yes if you really really concentrate you can feel through the wheel that it's a chop top - via the tiniest of occassion tremors - but so what you're not going racing are rallying are you. It felt a little heavy and 'stolid' on the road. Not QUITE as nimble as the Coupe on first aquaintence maybe. BUT the suspension - which benefits from upgrades that later appeared on the Coupe too - in particular the better located steering rack - make it a better overall bet than early Coupes IMO. The secondary damping is greatly improved. And that's before you count the benefits of dropping the hood! A lightly used one would be my choice at the moment Grant - I've driven the new Coupe and it is indeed a great improvement but it'll still seem a backwards step after your current beast - whereas a Roadster will be a whole different experience.

Hi Guys thanks for the feedback.
Yes I'd like the new Lambo, but not at that price/depreciation thank you very much!
Pugs, good points, I have never been a cab man, due to their lack of driver focus/handling & extra squeaks & rattles, but it would make a complete change, although I think the 4.7 coupe is the ultimate short term destination... Millbrook drive beckons to decide!!!

"Short term"? What have you got in the offing then? Surely short term will mean short term hit financially too - which doesn't sound like you!

Nothing in the offing in honesty, short term, means I am likely to get another itch, same as you with the new Facelift 997, bet you'll have that 6 months tops!!!

I must confess you have been very clever at forward ordering virtually every desirable car & then enjoying a short term fix before getting out with zero (or little loss)! Although you miss out on some decent bonding with the good ones it is still a great way to enjoy car ownership without the pain of depreciation, I wish I was as organised & forward thinking as you.

Yes the 'itch' is a problem isn't it?

You're absolutely right about the 'bonding' thing. However - having the attention span of a gnat - until recently I haven't owned a car that I actually wanted to keep beyond six months or so. That changed recently and I do have a plan. However lots of exciting new toys appearing over the next few years to enjoy along side it. Provided of course that they can be run on the same no/little cost basis. Or maybe even earn a small profit! smile

Mind you they all seem horrbly tame compared with a lovely little Pitts special I looked at recently. smile

Reading some reviews on the new Vantage, they really make a strong case for it, particularly regarding the new engine... it really does start to pull you in... but I'm not sure if it's enough to make me want to swap out my existing Vantage. You're in a nice position Grant! I think I'm just going to stick with mine and continue on my pathway to adding something significantly faster and Italian to the stable...

I agree Jus, but knowing Pugs if they did, he'd keep the best one & end up selling the rest for a fast profit!

The main ones I buy from regularly are pretty good at not asking for deposits or at very least leaving it 'till the last possible moment thankfully. smile And as Grant says there will always be the occassional one I don't fancy that goes straight to a new home.;)

Edited for truly awful spelling.
