As title really! seems a bit daft paying £600-£800 on a service when the car has got to this age.

should i get it done at a specialist or do you still think its worth paying main dealer service costs for re-sale values etc?

thanks

I still get the regular servicing done at a main dealer. The rest is done by specialists. That's because if/when I do sell the car, the acronym FAMSH will imply that the car has been given the best possible care.

And you know what? It doesn't cost much if any more, once you take into account that my dealer is 30 miles away, while the nearest independent I favour is 100 miles away. Add up the extra time and petrol, and the small difference in cost fades away....

Still an Aston Martin worth in the region of £30,000. I'd say its worth looking after properly. Aston service stamps make it easier to sell.

Agree with all of the above. There are lots of DB7's for sale now. The ones which will be easier to seel will have FSH done by Aston specialists. The wones without will be harder to sell.

But William, he is talking about Main Franchise Dealer servicing, not specialists?

As with all cars as long as its been serviced as required by a well known marque specialst then there should be no problem.

I would argue that an Aston specialist's servicing is far more valuable than a main-dealer's; certainly for non-current models.

The OP did specifically mention resale in the original post. With that in mind I think you'd find it hard to win that argument smile

Your probably correct that a specialist can provide a far better service in many respects. But the acronym FAMSH is hard to beat come resale. It broadens your target market by such a huge margin.
