Do your kids have legs? Yes you can. Length of tolerated journey depends on how old they are, and how tall the people in the front are. I'm 6'2" and a 7 year-old can sit behind me, just.

Servicing costs for an i6 at an Aston specialist are no more than any decent car. A Jag specialist should be able to do the service ok, but each car has its own 'features' and I would rather let an Aston specialist take care of the car. Chiltern Aston, a recognized DB7 specialists, looks after mine. Servicing has been cheap. Keeping it in top condition is a different matter.

It is good to drive an Aston. As you've had various Esprit then the DB7 is a dream to drive.

Have a good look around. Visit Chiltern Aston and talk to Dom.

Got this from a magazine article on used DB7's, about 3 or 4 years old now;

Things to look out for on potential DB7 3.2 purchases:

Check EVERYTHING WORKS: Nothing is that cheap to fix in the DB7. For example if the air con is not working the only way to get it fixed is to have the dash of, which is about £1500. Headlamps are about £800 each.

Make sure there is no uneven tire wear, this is a sign that it has been kerbed, and it costs around £1000 to fix this

Earlier cars used different components in some of the bodywork, and can suffer from uneven paint fade if it hasn't been properly maintained, a total respray is the only way this can be fixed, obviously costing loads.

At 30,000 miles the supercharger belt should be replaced, this costs around £1000.

On earlier models the suspension might be worn out, depending on how bad it is your looking at between £800-£1400 to put it right.

Apparently the gear box, both manual and automatic are great and trouble free, as is the engine,as long as its serviced at least once a year. (serving cost about £700 I believe)

The DB7 is said to be a nice drive, and has great road presence. Its not especially sporty feeling like its rivals at the time (Ferrari 355, Honda NSX) but its more of a GT car, with a quick 0-60 in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 160 mph and of course there is the way it looks. They are great value for money. £30,000 will buy you a late great condition model.

If you are considering a private purchase or one from a non Aston specialist , it may be adviseable
to get a Pre purchase inspection carried out . It may cost a little but it will save any nasty suprises 6 months down the line . A thorough maintenance history is a must , neglect will no doubt
cost fortunes to recover . There are plenty out there , take time and pick the right one - good luck .
