Best Colour - V8 Vantage
Discussion
Thinking of swapping my Tamora for a Vantage, but I can't decide on the best colour to go for. I prefer darker shades as I think it enhances the lines better.
At the moment, my favourite is black, but I've never had a black car and I wonder if they are a pig to keep clean and if they show up scratches v easily.
Any thoughts, suggestions?
Tony.

I can never make my mind up on colours, and really like black cars when they are clean, so i always buy back

As long as you know how to wash a car without causing more damage and take care of it, they can always look like this. I never spend more than say 2 hours every 2 weeks on mine - a good wash & dry, a quick hoover, and thats it..I do have all my cars coated with some polymer stuff which is like a good wax, but lasts the lifetime of the paint.

I chose black with a black interior and grey headlining. I have a paint treatment too (guaranteed 6 years etc etc) which really helps keep it looking good and shiny. I think it actually makes the car look smaller - I had to park mine next to a friend's grey V8 to be sure he hadn't been tricked into a DB9
The AM dark blue is very nice too - about 2 shades darker than your Tamora. It was the closest I found to the sapphire blue of my departed Cerbera which I liked a lot.

I adore our Toro Red Vantage. It has a black interior with silver stitching, and has been supagarded to help reduce cleaning time (which does actually work!).
Here it is:
And a brighter version:
Edited to say silver stitching, I was told by Mr Blondemoment to go and look in the car as there was something in there - I thought he'd bought me a present! No, I really was having a blondemoment and had forgotten what the colour of the stitching was. He loves the green cotton on his black boxer shorts button. I was never any good at sewing!!

I have a black one and will never buy another black car again. I don't know where you guys who clean yours once in a blue moon live and drive, but reckon it must be a lab somewhere!
It's easily the best colour for the car when clean, but for the other 364 days, 23 hours and 58 minutes of the year it's likely to look under par.
The dark blue's nice, but often come with blue interiors which aren't.
If I were to choose again, I'd probably go for Tungsten (unless I could find a blue car with a nicer interior).
Toro cars also look very lovely, but like you I think the darker colours enhance the lines better. I'd be tempted if there was a price differential on a used car though.

Toro does look good, especially from the front and sides, but the problem I have with it (and why I decided against it) is that it hides the rear lights; there's no definition to the rear of the car as it's all just red... With the DBS lights fitted it would look much better IMHO. Incidentally I went with Aviemore Blue for my V8

You car looks fantastic and I've now got a new favourite colour!Trouble is, I've never seen another one for sale in the colour.
Cheers Tony - it's a fantastic colour, which is why I'm always so surprised how rare it is; I've never seen another Aviemore Blue Vantage on the road or even on the web... It was only about a 1K option from new, as it's an out of range colour, so not even that expensive! Not very helpful if you're looking to buy a used one though I'm afraid...

Guys Guys
Clearly my Mercury Silver is the best colour My local friendly Albanians clean mine for 5 quid in the hand wash And I do the interior and final polish.

remind me never to buy a used car from you then !!...the paint will be swirled up and the finish gone already....I wont even let the dealer wash mine, after Ive seen their technique Clearly my Mercury Silver is the best colour My local friendly Albanians clean mine for 5 quid in the hand wash And I do the interior and final polish.

Get into the idea of cleaning it, its part of the fun, then you can have any colour you fancy. The lighter colours are good on the car, I agree, but I think if it were me it would be Meteorite (and I assume here that you are in possession of a current brochure) with Iron Ore leather interior and Black Cherry carpets. I've thought deeply about this.At the moment, my favourite is black, but I've never had a black car and I wonder if they are a pig to keep clean and if they show up scratches v easily.

I would steer clear of the silver and the dirtier looking greys. Just personal. Now I have seen the pictures the Toro doesn't look half bad.

Soul Reaver, would you mind posting a close up pic of your car, with the sun glinting of it would you? Just for my own interest....
