On 10th May I am due to be getting married in the Grays, Essex area and was wondering if there is any good samaritans out there who happen to own a DB9 (James Bond car) or any other lovely looking car in the essex area who wouldnt mind taking my husband to be to the church?
I will be willing to pay them but as you can imagine, weddings are a costly affair so hundreds would not be do-able for us (plus I need to keep it a secret!)

If possible, could anyone help a bride to be who would like to do something special for her soon to be husband?!

Probably a long shot but thought I would take the chance anyway...

Thanks a million

Bit of a geek quote here but the DB9 isn't a Bond car, it hasn't been in any of the films.

Ditto here too.

If I were closer I'd have helped out.

+1

I'd help too if I were closer, but I'm the other side of the country and I only have a Vantage anyway... I hope someone from the Essex area steps up though. Hope you eventually find a car Shelley, but either way have a lovely wedding day!

When you consider the cost of depreciation, insurance, wear and tear, road tax, VAT etc etc it's not quite as outrageous as you'd think.

Private individuals have all of this (less the VAT I guess) plus fuel (getting on for 30p a mile these days) and the "cost" of their own time.

If someone's available, I'm sure they'll stick their hand up and volunteer. But I suspect you're on a long shot here.

If you want to get married nr Richmond (in Surrey) I'll gladly help out (Aston or Ferrari) smile

Afraid not Murph! All booked and ready to go now.

I understand what your saying but if thats how much its going to be then H2B will have to go without, we are saving to move once we get back from our honeymoon so £895 is totally undoable.

Oh well...

£895 is probably not a lot compared to...say... the wedding dress or the flowers. If he means that much to you, then hire the car and use a Dress from Asda and some cheap flowers

Everything is all paid for, this was just an extra that I was hoping to do. If its not possible then its no big deal... will just be a shame.

(£895 = Dress and flowers put together!!)

Decades ago when I was young free n single, I delivered a groom to his wedding in a open-top Ferrari, on a cold but crisp/sunny December morning. I didn’t ask for money, other than a decent drink, and whilst it was a favour it had some interesting fringe benefits.

We got quite a reception on arrival, groom stepped out the car without opening the door, and it put big smiles on everyone’s face.

The feel-good factor was worth it, plus one of the bridesmaids became a permanent fixture and I’d never met her before that day ...

I cant help out this time due to location, but shirley there must be some white knight out there in Essex who good do a spot of charidee and maybe get back more than he was expecting ??!!

Shelleynev, congratulations on your marriage, it seems this is turning out harder than thought! What you could try is ringing one of the local Aston dealers and explaining your situation. I am sure with some charm, bottle of wine and an above average dinner one of the salesmen could slip you a DB9 for the day, even if they had to drive.

Hope this helps
