Since having my V8 Vantage, I have noticed that I have picked up a lot of marks/stone-chips etc. I have had the car paint shielded in the area's concerned (Front end/back wheel arches/Mirror's etc), however its still appears far more prone to marks then other cars I have owned. I recently had my car buffed & detailed by a professional valet company which helped. He explaned to me that Aston Martin Paintwork is a lot softer then BMW/Porsche etc, as anyone else had this problem and why don't they use a harder paint mix!

I'm afraid it is to do with water bourne paint and the process of curing it in the ovens.
Plus I can promise you it is no softer of harder than BMW or Porsche of the same age.

Or Ferrari or anything else. Just put the cost of a front end respray when you go to sell it in the budget and live with it...mine is covered with chips!

Aston paint is normally soft, the black is especially prone to swirling but is usually quite easy to remove. I have detailed many Astons and found this to be the case 99% of the time. They also seem to give very equal paint depth readings across the board wether it be a db9, vanquish or V8.

Glyn, what ballpark figure are we looking at to do a complete clean on a vantage?
