Had some fun yesterday at the Paramount Performance's rolling road in Slough. My V8 came out with 398BHP (estimated at the flywheel) which I was very happy about. There were some very nice Aston toys down there, but the new age Vantage sounded the best! (well I am biased!)

Did a little video that you chaps may be interested in, and you can make your own judgement about the noise.

It did sound the best!

Did they RR a V8V with their exhaust, racing cats or ECU upgrade?

Cheers

Out of interest, how many miles does your car have on it?

There was no "played with" V8V with their upgrades on, but on their leader board there was a V8V showing 448BHP...which got me thinking and chatting! But I was happy with 398. Mine has done 13600 miles and always run on Optimax (now VPower) and I do live near some very nice roads so everytime I get out in her she is driven like she was designed to be driven, if you know what I mean. Also she has brand new boots and has just been serviced. The guys there thought these factors may contribute to the 'over list' reading.

I have always been a little dubious about the equipment, but they did go to great lengths to make sure it is accurate. Also I know the flywheel BHP is calculated and thus is not completely accturate.

It was a great day and I relish the surreal experience of standing next to some of the finest most powerful cars of their era whilst they were being put through their paces!

Still only anecdotal evidence really, but I think these cars free up a lot with miles.

Sub 5k miles I saw a V8V on those very rollers make 342bhp. 353bhp with a Tubi fitted.

10k miles on it and the same car made 374bhp with std exhaust.

Dynos can only ever be an indicator, but I wonder if driving them properly loosens them up a fair bit...

Yep we would agree with that, Astons are tight from new and really loosen up with mileage, they do run better power with a few miles on them, and the ones which are “fully driven” seem to run the best power.

Just adding a line saying thank you to Paramount for the interesting day (and the tea, coffee and snacks) even though I did turn up in my 996!
