Sold at Coys Lords for £40k (plus buyer's commission????)

here

http://www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot.php?auction=75&...

and now for sale on Justin's website at £44,995

here

http://www.justinbanks.com/11-Main.html

....answers on a postcard.

He also has a good value 911 3.2 Targa, but that's through his French connection and thus easier to understand...but the Aston?....I can't see how he'll make anything out of it assuming the buyer's commission of 15% plus was not quoted in the "Result" price....

Hi Rubystone,
I wonder the same thing myself!
Hopefully car will sell in a week or two at the price. Love DB6's cant stop buying them at reasonable money as prices going through the roof.
Cheers!

Don't get me wrong - I love looking at your stock - just the sort of stuff I'd buy if I were in the game...but I cannot see how youmake the numbers add up!!!!

...what people may not realise is just how well a nice DB6 drives - throttle-adjustable and so much more than an expensive version of a Rover P5B...oh and a Nissan waterpump fits them too....

Ruby - that car could cost 19.99 and you'd reckon it was 20 quid overpriced and not bother buying it smile

Do dealers get the buyer's premium back (like "expenses" )?

This makes a nice change, a "Dealer not making enough margin" Thread. Must be the first on PH!

Murph - not true - mind you, I remember the days when you couldn't give DB6s away....

OldDBS - I'll mail my friend who fitted one to his DB6 some years ago.

Justin - as I said - I don't know how you do it...

Those results are including commission, but that doesnt leave you much Justin!
I was there and I dont remember that car although there were a few other nice astons. The RHD GT390 auction was fun to watch although I think they got a bit carried away.Someone obviously wanted that car!

In other 'classic' news, Aston Workshop want £300k for a butchered DB5. Amazing.

Yes, I was half interested in that car - but I think I am correct in saying that it was a 390 replica wasn't it? I value them at no more than £12k really, but perhaps I am way off the money?

I think I'm correct in saying the DB6 was a late entry?

Hi Guys,
Xjandy, yes, you are right, 10% is not great, after 40% Tax and 17.5% VAT on the Margin and I should have just left the money in the bank but it is not as much fun!

Seriously though, I priced the car to sell within the week, which it has just done, took a deposit on it this morning, as I have to turn everything over. I own everything and work on a large volume of cars, so sometimes a quick profit is more useful than a large one. I hope Aston Workshop will take more than £2k out of that DB5!

Dont get me wrong, I will happily take a whopping great big profit but it doesnt always work like that. The DB6 could have sold for £49,995 I reckon but ho hum, new owner is over the moon, he has been following the prices at the Aston Specialists and thought he was priced out of the market.

BTW, Rubystone, yes it was a late entry, always helps, and I am still waiting for a nice Aquarama to come in, I will keep you posted
Cheers,
Justin

It was a nice one but RHD clone makes it not worth the money in my eyes,It was a big block though, I reckon £16-20k max personally.£50k was a bit steep.

I remember when I nearly brought a 302ci Mach 1 Convertable in 1984 ish for £1500.. brought my 440ci 68 charger instead for £700.

Justin- you mentioned an Aquarama...is that by Riva or?

Oooh, do you? They are beautiful, and I'm not really into my boats.

Are the Aquarivas as nice or victims to modern day penny-pinching?

I have always loved the old Rivas and Chris craft boats.I went on a new Riva at the Earls court boat show this year. Quality.

I love my boats as much as my cars.

Justin,

How comes the gearbox hasn't been sorted or the bumpers aren't on, the previous owner told me he was going to get them sorted included in the price? Or did he end up knocking a bit off for you?

LongLive - The modern stuff is great but lots of money, I guess it was always the way.

Xjandy - I had a quick look at the new Riva at Earls Court also, very nice, but I am just hooked on an Azimut 43s and am trying to persuade the missus that it would be a sound family purchase!

BMT - I thought the same but gearbox wasnt sorted and bumpers were not there so he knocked a little bit off, easier life for us both, nice guy.

Say, justin, what was that fastmasters car like.Could you tell it had been raced?I nearly went up to Sean L to look at it, but was put off by stories of those cars being badly knocked about!

That car was superb, every inch a superb XJ220. There was a lot of BS floating around about these cars which hacked me off at the time but there you go. Great car, as new, cheap price and I know the previous owner had the car prepared perfectly for the next owner. Not sure if it is still for sale though.
