I posted the following in General Gassing but no one could help, how about you guys?
I was talking to my dealership service manager today, he was telling me of an Aston that had been laid up for eighteen years and the fuel was sludge in the tank. Cost many thousands of pounds to fix. He went on to tell me that because petrol companies had removed the additives to get the price down much of the stuff we put in our tanks starts to degrade very quickly. Because of this many fuel stations have removed inline filters so all the bits find there way into our tanks from theirs. I know storing a modern car is not good for it, drying seals being one problem amongst many others, and now the full fuel tank seems to be a problem too. He recommended adding a fuel additive to overcome the build up of micro-organisms. My thoughts immediately go to Shell V Power, which I thought had everything added. Anyone out there an expert on this subject? No guesswork please it is too important with engines costing £40k or more.
Thanks

I know that there are aftermarket products to add to fuel to make it last longer, this is a common problem for boat owners and it appears to be proven technology. If you thinking of storing the DB7 Zagato or Vanquish (i had a look at your profile) both incredible cars and yes, to risky for guess work. Try calling the chaps down at the Stratton Motor Company, they store cars especially Aston Martins and Rodger is a great guy down there i am sure he would be happy to tell you what they use to stop these expensive problems happening.

Yes the Service Manager suggested an additive that he used for his boat, thanks for the confirmation.
