New Vantage - questions...............
Discussion
I just traded in my 996 C4 cab for a mid 2006 Vantage...... lovely car with only 7k on the clock. I fell in love with it after one drive but now I have it I have noticed a couple of things - anyone have any views?
- the car has had the gearbox fix (1st to second linkages) but is still pretty clunky 1st to 2nd
- on start up and at low revs there is an intermittent electric buzzing behind my right ear somewhere
think this may be the car equivalent of checking the new baby every 5 mins to make sure its alive, but has anyone experienced similar - do i need to get it back to the dealer?
Also and finally anyone know aprox cost of getting a set of black alloys? THANKS!!

The gearbox is a Graziano. Same make as Ferrari fit. Don;t rush 1st to 2nd when cold and it'll be fine. When warm it should free up and be pleasantly chunky.
Buzzing noise - no idea. Is it definitely behind you? Is it really like an electric buzzing? Try taking out the parcel shelf and see if it's still there.

If the buzzing noise lasts for a few seconds and is from the drivers side rear of the car, It is probably the exhaust bypass vacuum pump. This is normal.
As for the 1st to 2nd gearchange, There is a linkage change and different oil mod from your dealer. This really does make a massive improvement.
Hope this helps.

There is a simple fix for that, pull fuse 22 in the boot!Easy to pull the fuse out (well with some needle-nosed pliers it is!) no need for dealer visit - and yes it's in the boot underneath the tyre sealent goo. I've never heard of warranty items not being honoured becauase of this mod - I removed my fuse a few days after buying my car, and have had no issues because of it for the last year..
There is loads of threads on this and the AMOC forum, about warranty issues, emissions lights etc etc, but my theory is if Aston Works Service fit a switch the a switch in the off position is the same as a pulled fuse, but the pulled fuse is much cheaper. I pulled mine at Le Mans 06, whilst very drunk in the campsite and lost it, and have had no issues since, apart from my ears ringing in every tunnel and the face ache from grinning all the time I drive her.
