Just trying to find out from any aston owners about the boot size of the AMV8 and the DB 9

Had the amV8 as a loaner for a week, and remember the boot being relatively decent in size. Is the DB9 smaller or larger than this, and how easy is it to get through to the back seats?

The DB9 has no access to the back seats from the boot. The AMV8 has a larger (though odd shaped) boot, as it is a hatchback (the DB9 isn't). The DB9's boot is a bit like the wide well shaped bit at the back of the AMV8 (though perhaps a bit deeper front-to-back).

Thanks for that. Just weighing up a few options, and space is one of the criteria!

Correct me if i am wrong, i was in an Aston dealer a few years ago looking at a DB9 and boot was incredibly small, big enough for a show box. No joke. The salesman said that Aston were revising the boot on later models so it may have changed. A business associate has a V8 vantage and there appears to be more boot space in there.

A friend of mine purchased a Bentley Continental GT and i naturally asked him why. He actually was about to put a deposit down on a DB9 but when it came out the boot size was so ridiculously small that he took his name off the list.

Hope this helps. The guys down at the Stratton Motor Company are great if you need any advice etc.

After all who wants to put things on their Aston's seats?

Not sure what a "show box" is - shoe box? It's a bit bigger. A DB9 can fit a full set of golf clubs in the boot (a bit of a fiddle but they just go, though there is not much other room). It can comfortably fit luggage for two for a weekend (though you might need to think about what you pack it in - soft bags work better than rigid cases) without resorting to the back seats.

The Conti GT has a hooooge boot in comparision. Properly large. Not nearly as pretty though. I'm sure Lisa Tarbuck could carry more stuff but I'd prefer to have Uma Thurman with me...

When I had the AM v8, i remember being able to get 2 sets of clubs in the boot, and from memory there is a little parcel shelf type affair behind the back seats? Is that correct?

Correct, there is a little shelf behind the seats. Beneath if lurks the battery (if memory serves) so it's pretty spacious. You can get a reasonable bag or suit carrier in there, as long as it's wide so it does not fall out between the seats...

I was trying to find fault with this comparison.

I failed.

Use my DB9 everyday for everthing, including transporting a family of four. The boot is fine as long as you spend all your holidays at nudist camps.

Hmmmm! I'm tempted by this one too - looks and sounds beautiful, gearbox sorted.

The boot on the Vantage is much bigger, and really quite sizeable if you remove the parcel shelf. I've had all manner of things in there, with a guitar piled on top! Also, just leave the parcel shelf out permanently for a much improved auditory experience wink
