More then 90% of the 80s (well, it was launched in 1977) are Manuals, They officially never made an Auto version, although some were built.

Fantastic choice of car, by the way.

According to the AMOC website, whjich as a cars for sale section, Aston Workshop in Beamish are restoring one which you could have finished to your spec. Runnymede also have one, in red, and Nicholas Mee has one as well. Not a huge choice, but they are quite rare.

This is a good starting website:

(No affeliation with any of these companies, etc etc)

The later V580X (X pack) Vantages were officially available as automatics and fully certified. The earlier the car, the lighter and more driveable they are. Towards the end of their life they gained some weight with wood interiors, more sound deadening and insulation. Added emission control equipment also sapped their power so the X pack was developed to regain some performance. The factory also offered a big bore upgrade with larger carbs, airbox and exhaust to bring power up to 432 bhp. If you can find one of those they are the ones to have!

Rikki Cann has a couple for sale at the moment, http://www.rikkicann.com/Vantage%20V8%20english%20...
Also RSW has a few in stock, http://www.rswilliams.co.uk/saleslist.cfm?cyls=8

For all the history and development details of the V8 Vantages try these 2 articles:

wow, the prices on these seem to have gone up...!

Mind you, they make modern Astons look effete in my view...

The 80s V8s were proper Aston Martins, real bruisers. Fabulous!

You will with any Aston but once bitten, never give 'em up.
The Owner's Club is a REALLY good source of advice, too, plus events to meet up at.

Jake......All current fleet.

Don't drive all of them as it's too much agro getting them out.

Think judging by the prices of these astons one might have to go. Or at least thats what I'll tell the War Department

I had an 80's V8 for a few years. Before pushing the button on one, do get it checked out - they can be a financial abyss as there's a fair bit to sort out on them.
